Vancouver, B.C. – I don’t think we’ve ever seen this many expensive exotic, luxury and collector cars all in one place at one time – at least in Canada. This past weekend, Vancouver’s annual high-brow luxury car show, the Luxury & Supercar Weekend (LSW), featured over $100 million dollars worth of exotic machinery assembled on the manicured lawns of VanDusen botanical gardens. Well-to-do attendees paid up to $200 each for weekend passes to view hundreds of stunningly beautiful new and classic automobiles, along with associated luxury products such as fashions, jewellery, artwork, gourmet foods and even pianos. The weekend automotive luxury extravaganza was the finale to a week of pre-show dinners and parties for owners, VIPs, and well-heeled potential customers of luxury automobiles.

Also making its debut was the Italian-made 2013 Pagani Huayra Carbon edition, a mid-engined exotic with a body made entirely of carbon fibre. Reportedly the fastest car to go around the BBC’s Top Gear test track, the Huayra starts at $1.5 million. Only 22 Huayras have been built.
Making its Canadian debut was a deep blue 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, Aston Martin’s first convertible with a body made of carbon fibre.
Another showstopper was a 2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster finished in a beautiful metallic sky blue colour. This beauty was my favourite exotic of the show. McLaren’s first convertible, the MP4-12C Spider was also on display – also with an all-carbon-fibre body.

Other production notables included the Jaguar F-Type S convertible, Porsche Panamera Hybrid and Porsche 911 C4S Coupe.
Some of the more outrageous exotics on display were modified supercars such as the Enzo Ferrari ZXX Evolution, tuned by Edo Competition, that puts out 920 horsepower, and has a top speed of 390 km/h. The Maserati MC12 Corsa, tuned by ZR Auto and Edo, pumps out 840 horsepower and has the same top speed; finally, the outrageous chrome painted Lamborghini Gallardo wide-body twin turbo, modified by ZR Auto puts out 1,750 horsepower and has a theoretical top speed of 433 km/h.
