Infiniti will also get EV with improved battery technology

Speaking with Nissan executive vice president, Andy Palmer, Automotive News is reporting the next Nissan LEAF will look more like its mainstream counterparts. The model is also expected to receive a much improved battery chemistry in 2017.

The new battery tech, which will also be used by Infiniti for their own upcoming electric vehicle, is expected to improve range in Nissan’s EVs. Palmer did not offer a target range for the new batteries.

While no timelines were given for new models, Palmer hinted Infiniti’s EV would arrive sometime before the end of Nissan’s Power 88 business plan, ending March 31st, 2017. The next generation LEAF will likely follow shortly after.
