Next-generation SUV will get conventional and plug-in hybrid variants

Mitsubishi has released the above image hinting at what’s to come in Chicago. If we are to take a semi-educated guess, we expect a new Montero to grace the stage in the windy city, but rumours until now have stated not to expect a new model until at least 2018.

The Montero (known as the Pajero or Shogun in other markets) was never sold in Canada and left the US market in 2006. In Europe and other locales, the off-road model is known for its off-road prowess thanks to being the most successful vehicle to contest the Dakar Rally.

Details at this point are scarce. A new Montero will arrive in both conventional gasoline and plug-in electric guises when it reaches production.
