New Lexus super coupe to take on M4, RS5, and C 63 AMG
Looking for a Japanese sport sedan with a V8? Unfortunately, you’ll be left wanting as the IS F has officially gone out of production. But, there’s a new kid in town if you’re willing to forego a couple of doors.
When it arrives on dealer lots, the 2015 Lexus RC F will command a $80,800 sticker price in Canada. That places Japan’s new performance coupe right in the middle of its German competitors — the M4 ($75,500), RS5 ($82,900), and C 63 AMG ($76,600 and due to be replaced very soon).
It also sits in the middle when it comes to peak horsepower. The RC F pumps out 467 hp from its 5.0-litre V8 engine, the most powerful eight-cylinder in the Lexus range, while the BMW M4 produces 425 hp, Audi RS5 makes 450 hp, and the mighty Mercedes C 63 AMG cranks out 507 hp.
If you’re looking for a bit more performance from the RC F, the Performance Package will run you $88,200 and adds “Torque Vectoring Differential, unique 19” forged wheels, carbon fibre trim and a carbon fibre roof and spoiler for weight reduction.”
One thing it doesn’t add is more power.
The RC F will be available at dealers in the fall.
