Lamborghini’s Huracan Spyder convertible is due for its official unveiling at this week’s Frankfurt auto show, but the Italian supercar manufacturer has already published photos of the car.

Powered by the same 610-hp, 5.2L V10 engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as the Huracan coupe, the Spyder scoots from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 324 km/h, both figures being a bit slower than the coupe, which does the spring in 3.2, and boasts a top end of “more than 325 km/h,” according to Lambo’s press materials. Confirmation will have to wait for details post-press conference, but we assume that discrepancy is owed to the extra weight of structural reinforcements, and perhaps less-optimal aerodynamics.

The Spyder comes fitted with features new to the Huracan line for 2016, including ‘cylinder on demand’ and engine auto stop/start functions to reduce fuel consumption, while “even improved driving behaviour” (yes, that’s a direct quote) comes courtesy of a new electronically-controlled AWD system.

Lamborghini has high hopes for this car sales-wise, expecting that it will “exceed its predecessor in every way,” that being the Gallardo Spyder, which Lambo says is the best-selling open top model in the brand’s history.
