Standard equipment increases as price decreases, even with the base model being dropped

Infiniti’s pricing game is getting extremely aggressive in Canada, even as the Japanese luxury marque spends a ton of money on renaming their entire range and adding standard equipment to their models.

The QX50 – formerly EX37 – is no exception. A year after receiving an engine upgrade, from the outgoing 3.5L V6 to the new 3.7L V6 found in the 370Z (the only model spared from the Audi-esque naming convention), the EX37 QX50 drops its base model and the Journey package becomes the new entrypoint.

Pricing for the QX50 Journey starts at $37,900, a full $2,000 cheaper than the outgoing base model and a whopping $5,900 cheaper than the 2013 Infiniti EX37 Journey. Features in the previous Journey package, now standard, include Bluetooth, moonroof, auto-dimming inside mirror, maple interior accent and power tilt and telescopic steering column.

Due to a lower base price, package prices have not changed but total prices have been reduced significantly.
