Ford promises new Raptor will have more power than outgoing 6.2L V8

This morning at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Ford dropped a trio of new performance models including the new Ford GT, Mustang GT350R, and this — the 2017 F-150 Raptor sporting EcoBoost power.

The second-generation off-road truck will be powered by a 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine Ford says will have “more horsepower and torque than current Raptor’s 411-horsepower, 434-lb-ft 6.2L V8.”

A new 10-speed automatic transmission also debuts on the Raptor, developed in conjunction with General Motors, along with “redesigned, larger FOX Racing Shox with more suspension travel and all-new terrain management technology,” stated the release.

The Ford Raptor will be built in Dearborn and go on sale in fall 2016.
