European and Chinese models bound for North American sale

Buick has been a performer for General Motors even with a fairly thin lineup. The powers that be see this lack of choice for GM’s entry-premium brand and are plugging some of the holes.

This means introducing the made-for-China Envision SUV to sit between the Encore and Enclave along with a new Cascada convertible model from Europe. Both models are tipped for reveals next week at the North American International Auto Show.

According to Automotive News, the Cascada will likely go on sale as a 2016 model later this year. It is built on the same platform as the Opel Astra and could be powered by a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine in North America. It will be the only front-wheel drive convertible model in GM’s domestic lineup.

The Envision SUV could be offered with the same engines as the current Chevrolet Equinox, including a 2.4L four-cylinder engine and 3.6L V6 motor in upper-level trims.
