There’s not a single red-blooded person on this planet who wouldn’t take one look at the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR and know that Dodge means business. Dodge’s newest track-ready ACR edition Viper is the deadliest snake to slither out of the factory since the Viper’s launch in 1992.

The 2016 Viper ACR’s bite doesn’t lay in the outright horsepower output. Yes, the 8.4L V10 is up 5 hp from the standard Viper’s 640 hp and the torque output is up to 600 lb-ft – Dodge claims this is the torque-iest naturally-aspirated sportscar engine in existence, but the running gear is what’s getting our panties in a twist.

The Viper ACR packs 15-inch two-piece carbon brakes with six-piston Brembo calipers up front, a race tuned suspension with coilover Bilsteins, offering up to three inches of suspension height adjustment, and the real star of show – the aerodynamics package. The ACR Extremem Aero Package is made up of a massive adjustable dual-element carbon fibre rear wing, rear carbon fibre diffuser, unique SRT hood with removable louvers, detachable extension for the front splitter and additional dive planes. Dodge says the aero is good to deliver nearly an astounding ton of peak downforce at the Viper’s top speed of 177 mph or 285 km/h.

The combination of all the hardcore track bits and tires added onto the Viper is good for a sustainable 1.5 g of steady-state cornering and a 50/50 weight distribution.

Aside from the extreme performance and aero, carbon-fibre and Alcantara suede interior is to die for. And of course, in true hardcore Viper fashion, the ACR is a good ol’ fashioned three-pedal equipped car.
