STI doesn't have HG issues.  Most common issue is the piston ringlands.  Even then, nobody really knows the actual failure rate.

99% of those are due to bad tunes as well.

WHAAAAATTT?? You mean those Ebay $99.99 tuning usb keys from Malaysia aren't from a reputable tuner and my STI won't get 500 reliable horses to the ground??? :o :o :o

Well, AMG has a history of screwing up some of its engines.  6.3L Headbolt issue, anyone?

Back to the Ford: 150hp/L is a lot to push through an engine.  High boost pressure, lots of heat, etc.  Strong internals, and more importantly a strong block is an absolute requirement.  VW seems to be able to do it with their 2.0.  We'll see how Honda does with their 2.0L.  Mitsubishi has always had success at playing the high horsepower, small displacement game, and Toyota nailed it decades ago with the JZ's.

Well, AMG doesn't exactly have a reputation of building long lasting engines.  6.3L Headbolt issue, anyone?

Correction - the CLA 45 AMG has 367hp as well...

This sucks for those RS owners but at least they should be able to sell them for a decent price and put that money on a Golf R or Civic Type R.

I haven't heard of many engine issues with the Golf R, even tuned the failure rates are really small. 

I think as stated that Ford is more than capable of building a reliable and powerful engine, but someone decided it was okay to cut corners to save money.  Kind of like what VW did with their TDI engines, but at least those over performed in every way other than emissions.

It's unfortunate that the RS is having head gasket issues.

Maybe Ford should contact Subaru for advice.  :rofl2:

Ford already went through this ordeal with the old 3.8 V6.
