That should go quick.  Just out of curiosity, what's the mileage?

The ad says 175k km.

Good luck with the sale Gurgie, the ad says it's being replaced with something smaller, looking forward to seeing what it is.

Mmm, yes, something smaller than a 3-series.  That doesn't leave a whole lot.

So, It will have to be something comfortable in winter, as I believe Mrs Gurgie only has the one car and drives year-round, so I think that rules out Miata or similar ragtop/low ground clearance cars.  BUT, obviously she's comfortable with FR drivetrains in the snow.  Obviously she enjoys driving stick, therefore probably values driving dynamics and driving pleasure, as such I can't see her hopping on the subcompact CUV bandwagon.  She's had a pretty good experience with the 323, based on the fact that nothing has really gone wrong with it, so that may instill confidence in the brand.

Hmmm, maybe a 1-series?  That's technically 'smaller'.

Either way, GLWS, and looking forward to seeing the replacement.

ChaosphereIX should buy the 323 as a replacement for the Jag.  It's cheap enough, has proven to be reliable, is a known entity on the forum, and is still a 'driver's car'.

Should go decently well! My service manager just bought a black 6MT 323i from another client, had about 195k on it and he paid $1,500. Of course, he then immediately put $2k (at cost) into making it just about perfect. I absolutely love how these drive!

175 km and over 10 years is just when things really start to go.   But everyone needs the experience.  :rofl2:

What is with the front corners?  I can see the desire for something smaller  ;D  You may want to buff that out before sale?

I'm not sure a 10 year old BMW with almost 200k on it can be called reliable.

That's Bella scraping the bumpers on the retaining wall (passenger side) and the garage door frame (drivers side) & you can't buff it out   I've been contemplating taking the bumper cover off & sanding it down, filling, sanding, priming, painting, etc... but just too lazy to do that.

Problem is the used car market is crazy, new cars are hard to find in stock, so she's been all over the map. Replacement will be a hatchback of some sort most likely.

But she drove down to Toronto this morning in the 323i & is now having second thoughts... of course...

Spending few hundreds dollars to repaint the front bumper cover ("for sale" type of repair, aka cheap job) would probably make it more appealing and less bargaining unless you already factored that in.

Got a quote from a reputable shop to paint my front bumper for $600 (dismounted) so I guess you can paint it "for sale" for half of that at a random body shop if you take it off yourself.

Will she be sticking with a manual?  Maybe a GTI?

Good.  Total waste of time and material which ain't cheap anymore.  We are talking beater land here folks, although an intriguing one.  Sell as is.  Test drive with you in the passenger seat reasonable, but buyer must display DL to you and their DL number must be on the Bill of Sale including exact time of day of sale.  Make sure the DL is not expired.

The reason for the DL is even though that Bimmer may be towed or driven from your residence, without a definitive identification of the buyer, that car is still your liability and your insurer will take a powder if things get messy.

I keep forgetting $6700 is beater territory.  ::)

My definition of a beater is a Dent special.

$6700 would be a steal here in SK. Would be sold within the hour. Buddy just bought the same car with an auto. Slightly less KM, but figured he got a a good price at 11k.  At that price you’d get a rusty 2008 Mazda3 around here.

Good luck with the sale Gurgie.

Right?!?!?!? A buddies kid is looking for a beater car, hes 17, worked a few summer jobs, has about $2500, nothing out there that isn't a Kidney Foundation worthy for under $4k.
Lighten up Francis.....
