exactly: for such a nice vehicle, why make it substandard, or "that'll do"? Why not possibly make something great, instead they made something lukewarm.

SUBSTANDARD? WTF? Now you are just being ridiculous.

Yea...that's a bit cuckoo.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I honestly don't know. But I'm not butt hurt about them only making a 4 cyl manual.

I don't think anyone is butt hurt.

Just a disappointing oversight is all.

Yes, an oversight in yours and a few other's eyes. Maybe to Genesis, they don't care that they would sell 20 more cars.

FTR I also think it would have been great but I honestly don't care one way or another.

Manual should be offered with both engines... pretty simple... it's not... hence the b*tching... rightfully so!

Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

But why is the bi!tching rightfully so when virtually NO ONE else is offering it either?  It's like me brewing a beer that hardly anyone likes drinking, but I should brew it anyways......just because.
340i still is, right? Just because NO ONE else is offering a manual doesn't make it right... wanna make a splash & impact in the market, offer the manual.

Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk

Why, so they can sell a whole 100 of them in Canada?
100 sales is 100 sales... and there are enthusiasts it the States that would buy them as well. Point is why not have the choice & have it available for both engines...

yep, just dissapointed

they could have made something great, and possibly sold a lot more than they were hoping by stealing some BMW/Audi/etc. drivers with a true enthusiast-oriented offering in a market that even Alfa Romeo doesnt offer the enthusiast transmission. But no, they didnt. It is a shame.

substandard was the wrong word, I admit. Lukewarm, or "less than it could be"

forgive me

Well of course not, because it's Lexus.

I also don't care that I can't get a manual with an Infiniti Q60/Red Sport either.  Because it's still awesome.

Feel better?   ;)

I've not driven the G70, as they aren't here yet.

I've driven the Hyundai 2.0T in a manual in a Genesis Coupe though...but I don't think that counts.

Oh I totally know that the Q doesn't come with a manual in any flavours.  As you know, I personally can't stand the trend going with lack of manuals.  But it is what it is I guess.

You just seem to be just fine with the IS350 only coming in auto so I guess I am confused why you expect the V6 Genesis to be equipped with a manual?   ???

This.  Apparently, offering a manual on the turbo 4 is WORSE than not offering a manual at all.

I'm going to guess that Genesis took a much closer look at the market viability of offering a manual on the V6 than Ron did, and this I will give his declaration that they are not 'doing it right' as much weight as it deserves.

Has anybody seen recent stats that shows a breakdown of manual/auto sales of the BMW 3 series. Over the last 5 years would even be better. Imagine it would be hard to find unless somebody worked for BMW.

Well I'm sure Patrick can speak to it MUCH better than I ever could, but I'm guess there's something in there regarding the economics of it.  lol.   As much as I hate it, every single car manufacturer it seems is moving away from manual trannys.......must be a financial reason behind it I"m guessing as the sticks just don't sell much now.  :(

But why can't an enthusiast want a 4 cyl manual RWD car? You guys are just upset they didn't build it they way you wanted it. Not everybody wants a 6 cyl car and not everybody thinks a sporty enthusiast's car needs a 6 cyl.

And this.  The assumption seems to be that the turbo 4 is not "enthusiastic".  Based on what, I don't know.  I can think of some pretty sporty rides powered by a turbo 4.

I agree, and apologized for my poor word choice. See above.

I too can think of some very sporty turbo4 models, some from legend and yore....but to say the Hyundai turbo4 is more "sporty" than a turbo6 is just being silly

Mine is 32yrs old, blown 4, RWD, manual... but it was chastised as the poor man's Porsche when it came out... enthusiasts weren't happy back then either, lol!

I don't think anybody has said that yet, well until now of course. Plus only one person on this forum has even driven it.

yeah but yours IS the sport model - there was a na 4cyl 944 below it. The 2.0T in the G70 is the base model engine.

I think a curb weight of 2600lbs has something to do with that.... :rofl2:

Also...you have the top engine choice and not the base engine!!    :stick:

So if his was not the top engine choice, then his car would really suck, right?  It would be a disappointing oversight?  Ron - carefully retrace your steps and figure out where you dropped your logic.  :stick:

Yes...an MR2 without a turbo is pretty dull IMO...and not terribly special.  I'm guessing you've not driven one?

There's a reason the Turbos are hard to find and command a premium...and have their gnarly reputation.  It's thanks to the turbo option in the MR2 that makes it the special (and sought after) car that it is.  A 60% bump in power has a way of doing this!!   ;D

Which is why he bought one. I'm guessing the NA car wasn't even on his radar.

And my logic is intact.  Everything else being equal, the more robust engine is the one that enthusiasts (generally) want.  And makes the car better...and maybe even special.

Patrick - how long before we start seeing some full instrumented road tests on these cars from the mags?

Oh..good question!

I'm guessing the manual does 0-60 in mid 5s. based on what the coupe used to do.  And 1 second quicker for the V6.

All sport will do about .9Gs on the skidpad with appropriate tires.

Those are my guesses!
