That is a complete horse shyt excuse.

No more of a horse shyt excuse than pining for tail lights to be on during the day/all the time.

If you can't see a car in the day without tail lights on you are a moron.

Same type of thing IMO.

I think it's more about the number idiots who don't even know how or when to turn on their lights and you end up with a 1/5 of the driving population at night or in bad weather with no back lights.  It's tough to see those idiots.  To counter that ignorance, we should all just have all the lights all the time.

I was driving behind a black Bentley on the 407 a couple weeks back - night time, bad weather.  It was like a big, expensive near-invisible black hole on the highway.  Proof that wealth is no immunization against idiocy.

No auto lights on a Bentley?  My guess is that the dealership turned it off when it went in for service like it does every other day, and the owner forgot to turn it back to auto mode.
My indy shop used to turn mine off manually but didn't turn it back to auto after the work was done.  I always remembered to turn it back on when I saw the extra-bright instrument cluster when it got dark.

I sat in G70 yesterday at Square One Mall.
I sold my HONDA shares just now ( after a real rapid rise last few weeks ).
Wished I owned Hyundai Shares.

The cockpit quality and feel far better than my Audi A7.

That was my thought.  My wife was like "$300k and no auto lights?"  You may have the explanation.

 :o  Good to know.

The always on dash lights are often extremely bright during the day so you can see them in the sunlight. If they are too bright because it's dark or dim out, it would be a sign to turn your headlights on. Although anyone who seriously can't tell if their headlights are on or not based on what is illuminated or not in front of them should seriously not be driving.

What I don't get is people who don't use the Auto headlight functions on their vehicles when it's available.

I've got the auto lights on my Subaru, but I find they don't turn on as early as I'd do it, nor do they illuminate when the wipers are on, so I just leave them in the "On" position all the time.  Nice thing about Subie is that once the key is out of the ignition, the lights are shut off, so leaving them on all the time works.

I get how those living in well-illuminated urban areas, may not notice if the lights aren't on, especially in the winter when they get so dirty too.

^^ that's what my wife does, and I've proclaimed that it's made her so lazy that if I ever turn off her headlights, she never checks to see if they're on or not the next time she drives at night.  It's unfortunate, but honestly, the system in the Corolla is the best one there is.  Fully automatic, non-defeatable (can't turn headlights off while driving!).

Drive the 401 in the GTA , you cannot tell if your lights are on in the night , it is that bright out from the street lights

Not sure why automakers aren't copying Mercedes-Benz's light switch design. With the only modes being auto, parking lights, and ON, there's no possibility of anyone driving with their lights off.

...Toyota has those three options, but the sensor overrides "parking lights" and turns full "ON" if it's dark outside.

Yet, Lexus RXs are the most I see without taillights on at night.  I often see them without the DRLs on during the day/night.  I supposed those came from south of the border.

In what model?
My dad's 2011 corolla doesn't have auto headlights; IIRC they removed that feature since the 2009 and 2010 had it.

As long as you word it correctly. For example,
Let's hope Hyundai missed the page in the Subaru engine blueprints that discuss the advantages of the lower center of gravity of a horizontally opposed engine and its corresponding head gasket design.

At the auto show, I was very impressed by the G70. One interesting thing I noticed was the engine air filters - access to them is blocked by the sway bars on each side. You literally have to disconnect the bar on at least one end to swivel it out of place. And there are two of them.

Seems like a somewhat needlessly complex step for something that should be changed annually.

that is odd, but at the end of the day, it's likely one bolt and a few seconds to re/re...a PITA for me, no biggie for a shop or a handy man with all the tools.
