Engineering choice. Some companies mount it lower in the fascia where it can be hidden, improving aesthetics at the expense of performance (lower line of sight = reduced ability to detect obstacles).

I don't know if I agree with that. Mine is in a small window right beside the fog light. It "sees"for a real long ways...too far IMO that I have to lower the distance while on the 401. And this is back in 2004.

It was later replaced with the sensors in the emblem on the grill.
i'm assuming your car only has adaptive cruise though...a lot of newer cars also integrate pedestrian detection, auto braking/collision warning, etc.

Bingo.

Negative on the bingo.  While I don't have pedestrian, I DO have pre-collision warning system and auto braking.  I even posted some videos of the system in action for No-San I think.  Again...this system is nearly 15 years old now so an early system.

Despite this early system being set on the bottom of bumper or the grill, it's canted ever so slightly so it sees to the "horizon".  It's not like it only dead straight from where it sits. Millimeter radar and lasers almost of any type sees a looong way.   Despite this being the 1st gen of PCS, the system sees objects beyond ~100 meters ahead.

I'd have to imagine with the tech currently available today vs 2004 that these systems would not only be better (they are!), but be better packaged and smaller (it doesn't seem like it is in this case).

YMMV.

I don't think this makes the car "bad" in any way.  Just a curious omissions or cost cutting measure as people are pointing out.

Here the car

Now I see what you meant originally (except for the Passat part). Those dark wheels on the Dynamic, or any dark wheels like on the Sport, on a light coloured car just don't work for me, sort of cheapens it in my eyes. The same applies to other cars, for example with the Fusion Sport, Ford did the same thing and it looked worse than the base engine mid level version. I could use them as winter wheels I suppose.

Me too!  I'm tired of dark wheels.

But it's a personal preference.  Some people like em and they don't look bad.  I just prefer silver(s) these days.

I love dark wheels on a light car.  Silver is still by FAR the norm, so I'm nowhere near tired of dark.

I'd also add that it depends on the car.

But yea...personal preference currently.

Shame about the licence plate.  :(
I blame that on the manufacturer
Over 50% of the pop in NA need a front plate
EU needs front plates
Korea has front plates
So just design the car to have front plates

Also, you're a jerk. A funny jerk, but still a jerk.   :rofl2:

I keep looking, but I still haven't seen one on the road.  I've only seen one Stinger... Ottawa doesn't seem to be buying these cars.  Boooo!

I'm only 3 months into my Infiniti, but I'm ready to look at the G70.

I've seen quite a few Stingers, but can't recall seeing a new G70.  Maybe I'm just not paying attention?  Fewer Genesis dealers might play a role...

Finally saw one on the road this week!  It was black with the non-sport, but higher trim wheels (the best wheels on this vehicle imo).  Very classy and aggressive looking car.  The DRLs really stand out.  Good job, Genesis!

I saw my first one yesterday in Sage Creek while looking after our grandsons.  In Mallorca Blue, it's very handsome, although it looked smaller than I anticipated.

There's a manual G70 on AutoTrader https://www.autotrader.ca/a/genesis/g70/edmonton/alberta/5_40844873_20180111193706059/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&orup=1_1_1&pc=E3E%201C2&sprx=-1

Can lease that for about $600/month for three years/24k a year taxes in. Not bad.

Nice!  Be a long drive for them to bring it here (or to you!) for a test drive. Never mind service jobs.

It seems so to me too. That's quite strange actually because I've seen a lot of photos but still was quite surprised by the looks when I saw the car on the street.
