2004 Acura TSX
« on: September 05, 2017, 09:51:09 am »

Well I bought the TSX off my mother. It is a 6spd manual. 205k kms on it but still runs strong. Has a few little paint issues but in good shape otherwise. Quite a few scratches and a few spots where it got scraped on something. The colour looks hard to match I'd guess. Any ideas on the scratches? I think I may ditch the sunroof deflector on top.

Not used to this level of fanciness.

Sold the Mazda2  :(

Nice, I've always liked these cars. Would have picked up a used one back in the day but their resale values were too strong for my taste. I like the clean, simple lines - it's a very elegant design. Cool colour too!

Cool! Congratulations Arthur.

Sure doesn't look or feel 13 years old. Probably helps that some of the Acuras that followed were a little harder on the eyes. My mother had this one since 2005 or 2006 and has always serviced it at the dealer. Always parked in the garage since then too.

Great car for sure, it'll serve you well, congrats!

Congrats on the new ride.  I really like that model and the colour is my favourite.
I think I want to get one of those as my wife's car when the time comes.

My favourite Acura, excepting the NSX.  Trim size, great suspension, fairly light, and a true three pedal car.

Well I bought the TSX off my mother. It is a 6spd manual.
Well, there's something you don't read every day.  Good on both of you!

It'll be very fancy for you compared to the 2, but it'll be a wicked car.  I agree though, ditch the roof deflector asap.

In terms of the paint, if your goal is just to make it look a bit prettier (and not make the scratches vanish entirely), I would recommend something like the Mothers Scratch Remover:
http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mothers-scratch-remover-0391010p.html

I see now that there's an old thread on it:
https://www.autos.ca/forum/index.php?topic=46882.0

I used it widely on the Forester and the Mazda.  It won't get the deep stuff out, but I was absolutely amazed how well it worked on scuffs where the primer was showing (but not down to the medal).  I found it worked best on the bumper (non-metal) surfaces, actually.

Weeks later, the scratches are still gone - not sure how slybry's experience differed, but I'm quite content with it.

Great purchase. Drove a 2005 TSX with a manual, fun little car but the V6 in the Altima was way too tempting. Great handling and I've gotta say, that Vtec kick is pretty addicting.
Lighten up Francis.....

I've give that scratch stuff a shot.

The CRV was actually my mother's first automatic vehicle in since the 80s when she had a Dodge van. Otherwise she has had a Datsun 510, Ford Tempo, Ford Contour, Ford Escort wagon with sticks.

You'da been crazy not to pick that one up.  Loved my silver '04.

I had thought that blue only had the ugly tan interior, with this heinous wood trim...
but I think that was with the red exterior now I think about it some more...

It is black. Very black inside. Not a top of the line car as no nav, etc.

That's a Honda classic right there.

^^^^  This.

It weighs 3200lbs!  Check out the low cowl and simple dash.  Damn.  I like this car more than a lot of newer cars.

Looks great, I love it! I'm sure your wife will as well.

Would definitely love to move up from the 3 to a more upscale car in a couple of years and TSX and IS250 are top contenders. Top feature on the wishlist would be ventilated seats, which was an option on the iS250 not sure about the TSX. Still I wonder if perforated and non-ventilated leather seats are more comfortable than solid leather seats particularly on hot days.
