It's overpriced for a (realistic) 300-350km range though. Only Kia has really caught up to Tesla when it comes to reducing range anxiety.

For sur the Kia Soul EV and Niro have a better $/ev range ratio, no question here and feel like "normal" vehicle as Vmango wish, at reasonable price ;D

https://www.kia.ca/vehicles/soulev2021/overview?sourceid=nav
https://www.kia.ca/vehicles2020/niroev/overview?sourceid=nav

I mean this with the utmost respect. I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those things.
we get it...those are decent compact EVs, but it's just not the type of vehicle for you...i mean, you just ordered a C43 AMG Wagon...no one, and i mean NO ONE, who is buying a C43 AMG wagon is going to buy the Niro or Soul EV.

the problem with EVs right now is battery cost...loaded up, those things are $50-$55k...half of that is the battery...so when you're looking at one, realize the interior is on par with a $25-$30k compact...it's fine for that, but for someone dropping north of $50-$60k and up, that won't cut it...that's why things like the Tesla, Polestar 2 and Taycan are all so expensive...to have that long range AND decent interior components costs money...Kia COULD make something like that, but then it would be $100k, and likely no one would buy it...i could see Genesis leveraging their parents pockets for something like it though...maybe you could get a Genesis E70 (E for EV and 70 for the smallest size vehicle) and have it priced for about $70k???...might get some interest.

I don't think he was being serious. But also when I was saying I wouldn't be caught dead in those it was somewhat tongue in cheek and not necessarily about those cars. I mean, I wouldn't be caught dead in my old 2007 Cobalt SS either and I loved that car dearly.

Those KIAs would be fine appliances for the Urban commuting grind. My only gripe, and this goes for all EVs, is the cost. I'm not a cult member enough yet to ignore what else I can get at the same price - particularly because I'm also a bit of a dinosaur in my love for rawness and larger engines.

But like computers the price is going to come down with EVs and there will be more selection. I'm sure in 5 years there will be something out there that's close to what I've been talking about above. I'm sure it will be a different world for cars in the next 5-10 years.

Again part of the reason I wanted the Camaro now and also part of the reason I want the C43 wagon now. I am not going to be able to get these cars [new] later. There will be lots of time for me to buy EV SUVs later *shudder*

Same for me. Although any car isn't really appealing to me right now as I'm not really driving anywhere. So the one that depreciates the least is best!  :rofl2:
You're also distracted with a couple of new bikes vying for your attention! :)

Yeah, I'm just trying to ride everywhere whilst I can.

I think that is a great rational for getting your Camaro and now your wagon.  I do hope that muscle cars stick around and offer a V8 and manual transmission.  There will be plenty of EVs in the future to buy.

I was teasing Triple Bob, I knew you wouldn't  ;)

LOL, how are you teasing me? I think Kia's EV tech is very, very good. And have no qualms about driving either a Kia or a Hyundai.  :)

Yes, they are very solid first EV entry, try to find a Niro EV you will see how ... long to get your hand on!

As dirtyjeffer pointed out, he wasn't cross shopping into the same category.

Agreed. I wish I had the cash to do so myself. Envious. I do what I can within my meagre means though.

That's my thought as well. Enjoy the good ICE age while it lasts, there is plenty time in the future for the EV market. For one, there isn't an EV Coupe that's really considered affordable by most, so I am not really that interested.

Mango in a Kia...

Well, if it's a Stinger... That could work pretty well.

The selection on the table is without qualification a true gentleman car guy痴 car.

You sure?

No RWD, no V8, no manual..and it's not brown! LOL [emoji38]

BTW...feel sorry for Mango...the waiting for the new car to arrive is going to seem unreasonably long.....the clocks and calendars will be moving in slow motion...

Waiting...the worst part of getting a new car!

If the C Wagon came as a PHEV with 50-75 kms of range BUT with the 2.0T 4 cyl engine. Would you have bought it?

Also curious if you tested the Volvo V60 wagons (regular and CC)? Some quick thoughts if you did.

I did. I was very underwhelmed with the V60. Incredibly so. I test drove a V60 T6. It felt slow and boring (I don't like the engine at all) and the interior was alright. Just not a sportswagon. I loved the looks and I went into i thinking I might come away with it.... but I was disappointed. The C43, at least in my opinion, is in a different league altogether. I also really don't like everything in the screen in the Volvo.

If not for the C43 (or E53) it probably would have come down to S5 sport back or maybe RS5 sport back, M550 (demo), and the A6 allroad. I perhaps might have gone with the BMW M340i. But I didn't feel horny about any of those cars other than the M550, really.

Really, though if I didn't go with the C43 I probably would have kept the Camaro which I loved. I needed a 4 season warrior I loved just as much to get me out of it. Plus the wagon is just going to suit my life so good right now.

I rented an S60 T6 in March and I agree that it feels slow and boring. Don't get me wrong, it drives very nicely, but it's not as sporty as I'd like. Maybe the R-design with a tune would be better but I dunno.

But the big issue is that the E wagon is going away for 2021 so you can't order one.

Do you know for sure that the E53 wagon is going away? MB just announced pricing for the U.S. 2021 E-class and it includes the E63 wagon. Makes me hope they'll keep the E53 around for Canada.
