You running 87 in that bad boy?  You know, because you can?

Oh good - I was hoping another thread would get derailed - because there really can't be too much discussion of that particular subject.  ::)  ::)  We could inject it into pretty much every thread about every car that runs on gas.  That would be so freaking awesome.

i wish the garbage gas that is 87 would just go away.

As far as exhaust...I like Magnaflow for cost/value/quality quotient.

They sound deep and angry too.

I've known some guys that had great builds using them.  Haven't seen their stuff in a while, but back when it was top-shelf.

It's the opposite...since about the 90s.

Magnaflow blew by them. Full stainless construction with lifetime warranty. I consider them a bargain version of something like a Corsa exhaust.

Flowmasters (we called them Blowmaster) were just loud and that's about it.

I’m either going with Borla Atak or  Corsa Extreme. Both are their loudest options. I like the look and sound of the Corsa much more however I can retain use of the NPP with Borla if I want and not so with the Corsa. That being said I have left the exhaust in Track mode since the day I got it so I’m not sure I care about different modes.

99.7 percent going with Corsa.

Both options eye watering in terms of price though  :-[

And yeah John flowmaster is what the guys with flat brim hats buy these days. Pretty much cheap junk.
You don't need no stinking mufflers!

Just get the Magnaflow race system!

Oh...here is the NPP version...a better look.

I'm guessing you just mount the NPP motors to that little flange?

How many kms now?  And how are the tires holding up?   :rofl2:

4653KM and tires doing alright so far. Looking at exhaust setups right now. While yes the NPP dual mode is loud I've reached the conclusion that obnoxious V8 sounds at all times is what's required.

Thanks for the update.  I'm at over 5K myself, and I think we got the car around the same time.

Looking into changing the exhaust?  The 1SS that I drove came with the active exhaust and it sounded mean.  I'm sure 1LE's is even better, so why change it?  Keep it stock!

FG(M)C!!!

It's nice when it's minor issues and it looks like the solutions should be reasonably permanent.

It's such a rad car.  Getting in and knowing you're driving something special has got to be a great feeling.

Those to me are minor issues & not a hassle at all. Even with all the R&D manufacturers complete, there's nothing like having real world testing.

I missed out on a rare 944 Turbo before I got mine, it was imported from Germany by a US airforce officer who bought it new in 1986 over seas. The first production cars were essentially test mules put out by the factory because Porsche was such a small manufacturer & couldn't do it themselves. The early cars had the following:

Sodium filled exhaust valves
Ceramic coated exhaust ports
Modified engine block
Thicker engine casting with higher density aluminium engine block
Forged piston connecting rods
Manual Cam belt tensioner.

Half way through 1986 the 944 turbo received.
Thickness and density of the engine block reduced back to the same as a 944 non turbo to reduce production costs. Cast piston con rods instead of the expensive forged con rods of the M44.50

Both items fixed under warranty and solved. I got a loaner - a Cadillac XT5.  Item one is no big deal and something that happens - item two falls a little under the classic GM category but good to hear they're aware of it and fixed it no problem. Great to have the Camaro forums to highlight these issues before I even had them so as soon as they arose I knew what I was hearing.
both items are pretty minor, and it happens...the key thing is that it gets resolved, which it looks like it did fairly easily so that's always good.

My only complaint would be that the paint is so-so and the clear coat is :censor:. Paint damage occurs pretty easily especially with the super sticky steam rollers kicking up every rock and pebble on the road. I knew all this going in but it would count as my only real negative.
one thing you should consider is protection options...i know you are unlikely to come here (can't remember where you live?), but there are likely premium detailers in your area.

our local one is Scotty's Shine Shop (http://shineshop.ca/) ...if you check their facebook page, it's littered with plenty of posts/pics in the last couple of months of some of the vehicles they've done, and they're all spectacular...they aren't cheap, but they really are the best...aside from the usual "detailing" packages, they also handle wraps, ceramic/glass coatings and other products to help protect the car's paint (they also do paint correction and a number of other restorative programs)...seriously, these guys are the real deal.

I you have followed my thread you’d know I have the car ceramic coated and I’ve also done paint protection film on the rockers.  :P
my bad...LOL.

i figured a special ride like yours would certainly be worthy of special treatment...as well, you seem to be the type of person who doesn't mind spending the money to protect their car and keep it looking in tip top condition...some people spend lots of money on a nice car, then never spend a dime after the fact, then wonder why their car looks like it's 10 years old after 4 years.

My two first warranty items! Thank you for the Camaro forums because it allowed me to tell the dealer where to do. Which is always good at a GM dealer I feel like.

1) clicking while turning. Turned out to be a common problem with all the high performance Camaros (1LE, ZL1, ZL1 1LE) with the two piece rotors. There is slight corrosion on the wheel hub so it's just a matter of cleaning the wheel hub and then lubing it with some lithium grease. TSB item.

2) clunk from the suspension - sounds like a blown strut. The sway bar end link nuts come loose which causes the clunk. TSB item the replace the nuts with "better ones" that don't come loose.

1LE has 5400KM on it now. I love it. A blast to drive, loud as hell, and turns heads. I get a bunch of thumbs up every day - even though Ron may not believe the latter  [emoji14]

It's nice because I've only even seen one 1LE on the road and that was one time. Good to be rare - especially when 9 out of 10 6 Gen Camaros you see are V6s.

My only complaint would be that the paint is so-so and the clear coat is :censor:. Paint damage occurs pretty easily especially with the super sticky steam rollers kicking up every rock and pebble on the road. I knew all this going in but it would count as my only real negative. Storage isn't great but I knew that and it doesn't matter and funny enough the visibility that so many people complain about hasn't been an issue for me for a second. In fact I quite enjoy feeling like I'm sitting in a fighter cockpit.

Just about anyone who's takin' it for a drive can't believe how good it is. Feels good, man.

 :skid:
A bit worrying about the nuts after only 5k of use, eh?

And I'm not shocked about people digging it. The pony car fan club is a big one.
