No kidding the interior looks amazing - at least if the pictures aren't lying.  Even the car doesn't look as bad now that you've done something to it.  Maybe you can paint it all British flag and go all Austin Powers on cruise nights.

Or BRG. BRG always works.

That car needs to be screaming red.

Unless it was never available in red.

E-types were always available in Red and BRG in their home country...no idea about what was sold in NA.

Funny enough, this car was originally "Regency Red"

That interior before & after looks amazing.  I would have thought it was a different car if it was in a car detailer's commercial.
Good luck with the exterior work.  It already looks better with that primer on.

I am lucky to have an awesome family; my dad and brother spent the better part of two days with me thrashing away on this car to assess what it needs and get it into a decently respectable state, so it's at least not a total eyesore and the interior is no longer a trash dump...

I wonder if the Electric Jag still leaks? Lord knows they're tempting the Dark Lord Lucas by adding a bunch of electrical components. ;D

I would not tempt Lucas Prince of Darkness.   But he can be calmed by the use of original Smith's instruments.  Some say that working synchromesh really upsets him tho'

Well, I had our metal and body guy look at it and quote a repair on the unibody...Honestly, from an investment standpoint it probably would've paid off to invest the $$ and have a really nice E-Type...But then I'd have another car to care for. At this point in our lives, I don't need another permanent project and/or garage queen. So I put it up on eBay and watched the bids fly....Active bidders all over the world (most obscure place being Reunion Island in the middle of the Indian Ocean!) which speaks volumes for the impact these Jags have had around the globe....truly a globally coveted classic.

Car left for it's new owner in Poland earlier this week.....Who already has a Jag specialist shop lined up to do a complete restoration.

Car saved from certain extinction, and a bit of cash in my pocket....not a bad deal at all.

Cool car, and surely sad to see it go, but likely the smart choice.

I took a look through the eBay pictures. That car and I share a birthday... like the exact same birthday. Now I feel old.  :(

Yeah, I wish I had more time on my hands, but truthfully I am stretched pretty thin. It took me all summer and into the Fall (I just finished this week) to re-finish the 5 wire wheels for the 72 MGB. It's a couple hours a wheel, and back in my university days I'd bang through that job over a weekend....Now it takes 4 months!

The problem is; my mind and body are willing and eager to tear into these projects....So I look at this stuff and think "That's easy, I can fix that".....but a stressful career, long commute, wife, house, etc make it tough to make quick progress. So I'll settle for smaller projects at a slow and steady pace :)

Heli - that birthday thing is pretty cool! And if it makes you feel any better; you're likely in much better shape than this car
