Ya'll know we were looking at VW Sportwagen's, right?
One of vehicles we did try was the Honda Passport, a heavily discounted new base 'Sport' for 38,000, and a couple of lightly used top trim 'Touring' starting at 42,000.
My wife really liked the design of the Passport, it struck her as a similar tall boxy design to her old CRV, just bigger. I thought it looked like the package her car came in.
The drive was very nice, especially with the Touring, which seemed worth the extra money
My notes
-quiet, lots of power (exhilarating), nicer inside than expected inside, tons of space, useful armrests, tight turning circle, almost seemed to turn in it’s own length
-great visibility, tall windows, big mirrors, plus you sit high
-wide though, no front or overhead camera, no parking sensors for the front center (although the corner ones seem to work to some extent for straight ahead
-pushbutton shifter is odd, but seemed like something that could be gotten used to
-the Touring felt noticeably more premium with perforated cooled leather and what seemed like a lot of extra features. Also quieter, probably due to the acoustic glass. The nav map was a useful feature, and the touchscreen was easy to use
In the end though, taking it to a grocery store parking lot and trying some close in parking, we decided it was just too big for her to park around the city
Thanks to Gurgie for tips! We ended up test driving these twice as my wife really liked them
