There are some seriously fast cars in the CTCC (Canadian Touring Car Championship) which are FWD.  I have no problem thinking of the Type R and the Si as serious track cars, especially as they are equipped with LSDs.  But.....I prefer AWD myself.  Not least because it's smarter than I am in low traction conditions and much as I am a track day enthusiast I love the fact that I can drive my car at the track (not just the road) in marginal weather conditions.

Remember now - AWD gives you no advantage on a wet track over 20kph!  :rofl2:
Well, yes it does, however the advantage is in the turns.  You are absolutely right that it gives you no advantage on the straights.  Biggest benefit, just like road cars, is having lots of rain grooves and tread depth when it gets wet!

Of course that is correct (and don't forget on launch as well - my stick shift Altima V6 could easily spin the wheels on the 1-2 shift in the dry, and on the 2-3 in the wet - both well over 20 kph).

I was merely poking fun at our resident expert on high performance driving who claimed there would be no benefit to AWD on a wet track over 20 kph as compared with FWD.

The EX-T Coupe is a heck of a deal particularly in Lease @ 1% up to 48 mths.

https://www.honda.ca/buildyourhonda?model_key=civic_coupe&model_year=2017&returnUrl=true&trim_key=ex_t_10410&transmission_key=10428-Manual&color_key=rallye_red#!/en/ON/civic_coupe/2017/ex_t_10410/customize
That *is* a good price.  We've been checking out the 2017 Civic build & price site.  I think we're partial to the Si Coupe or Sedan but the EX-T is nice if you don't mind the CVT.

You've said that, but you're still not correct.

The FWD Civic is trying to put 300hp through two contact patches. The LSD does make sure the inside wheel doesn't spin uselessly, but it's still going to be trying to cope with 300hp and the lateral forces associated with steering. The RevoKnuckle isn't going to do anything to ameliorate that. The AWD competition has much less for the front wheels to cope with.

The electric steering in the Civic has almost as much to do with the lack of torque steer as the RevoKnuckle. It's programmed to offset the torque applied to the steering rack due to acceleration. The Revoknuckle equipped fwd Focus RS did that as well, but it was the first generation of the technology, and not quite as effective.

Anyone tracking the Focus RS should be installing the available Quaife LSD. Tracking it is going to void the warranty, might as well do the upgrade.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.
