Race tracks are 100x safer than public roads. If he's going to crash, it's better to crash on a race track.
of course it is, but it only takes one time for something major to happen, and he's had 3 accidents in 3 races...i'm not familiar with the type of racing (or the track layout) being done here, but if he wiped out and another bike hit him/ran over him, that could cause serious injuries...perhaps he slides into something else (wall, embankment, another bike, etc)...even just catching some ground at a weird angle could result in a serious injury.

sorry if i'm concerned about a "friend" (online) whom i've come to know over the years...if we were all 18 and indestructible, it likely wouldn't be a concern, but we're all married now, with loved ones at home and financial obligations to provide for our family...i would just hate to see something bad happen...as i said, if he were doing it for 5 years and this was the first time, it likely wouldn't be a concern, but 3 for 3...come on now.

$417 for a pair of gloves after shipping, that's if the border doesn't charge taxes on top. :fall: That's almost as much as all my gear combined.

with loved ones at home and financial obligations to provide for our family...

Covered, life insurance policy and serious illness/injury policy.

sure, but i'm pretty sure they'd rather have Jacob than a cash payout...and if you want to keep it strictly financial, Jacob is likely to make far more money over his lifetime than would be paid out in an insurance policy.

Dirtyjeffer did you read anything I've written here? Should the current championship leader also quit?
What about Ben Young, the pro rider? They've all had the same number of crashes in the same number of rounds.
How about Marc Marquez, who binned it five times in one day last MotoGP?
FYI, it's three crashes in ten races now, not three.

We do what we have to do, and sometimes it's just part of who we are.

Everyone has an acceptable level of risk, and I assume everyone on this is intelligent enough to understand the potential consequences. We're responsible enough to decide for themselves how much we will take.

Generally speaking the low-side sort of offs aren't so bad, esp on the track when there's generally no hard/fixed object to immediately ram into.

That's pro quality and among the few completely CE rated gloves. These are among the best racing gloves available.

$400 is cheap compared to broken fingers/hand...especially considering Jacob will likely hit the deck again.

I remember when someone chastised me for spending $1000 on a helmet.  FFS...it protects my head!

That's true.

I don't get criticizing helmets, except against people who want to wear half helmets. There was a bad accident in town recently, guy lost some of his face.

One can get Snell or ECE rated helmets under $200, but the more expensive helmets are about saving weight and reducing noise. I want an Arai Vector-2. Before you recommend your Shark helmet, I have a 3XL head. Almost nothing fits me.

Nah, the joke was that your head doesn't need such fantastic protection - a little TBI may calm you down a bit ;D

...$2,500 on leathers to protect your purdy little butt though...priceless!   :rofl2:
