The last good looking one was the SC series to me.
You know I love you, bro, but that comment isn't going to win you any friends... The SC was possibly the worst Lexus ever made, save for maybe the HS250...

The SC wasn't a sports car by any stretch but it was a pretty good personal luxury car or grand tourer.

I thought they received a lot more flack than they deserved.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

If I had to choose between buying a 300,000km Lexus GS and a 300,000km Caddy CTS, I'd go with the Lexus.

Any sane person would, brand new, a Caddy would be way more up my alley.

If they still had the CTS-V with manual transmission, I'd be all over that.

Actually I'd import a Chevy SS 6 speed manual from the US while it's still available. Seems to be a more sensible choice at half the cost even after exchange rate.

Oh yeah, a used SS plus a blower and you have all the power of a Caddy and a proper manual at a small fraction of the price. But again, comparing new and used isn't really fair.

I meant a 2017. $47k (ok not quite half the price, 2/3rds)

6.2L V8 pushing 415 HP, not quite CTS-V, but still good for a 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.

Right?? A non supercharged LS3 will be fairly dependable and the only big expense from the manual transmission would be a clutch every few hundred k. In a package people might laugh off as some average Chevy sedan... until they get smoked at a stop light.

I know there will be talk of soft touch dash this, and stitching that and on look at the soft close thingie......LS3+proper manual=winner in my books. Maybe I have lower expectations than some but the interior of the SS is ok in my books, notice the lack of awkwardly stuck on Ipad on the dash.

The newer SC was never a looker, but a great car for what it was. The older SC was too rounded and ovoid a design for my tastes - even by 1990's standards - but it was hardly ugly IMHO.

Well since we've opened the thread up to other cars besides the original two, this is my super-sedan choice, all day errrday, until the lease period ends (hey, I'm fiscally dumb but not a complete masochist ;D). Practical (seats fold down :)), beautiful-from-every-angle 4-door GT with insane, effortless thrust and idiot-proof AWD handling.

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/lexus-sc430-page-2

Quote
So why does the Lexus languish in the runner-up spot? It comes down to two elements: styling and vehicle dynamics. ... Nevertheless, our own responses to the SC430's styling and dynamics were uniform and unanimous: very nice, but not for us.
...
Still, for a car with soft springs and relaxed damping, the SC430's reaction to sharp bumps is disappointingly harsh.
...
Although the SC's five-speed automatic takes its time serving up kickdowns for passing, this portly cruiser (3910 pounds) can hurry when prodded. We were a little disappointed with its 0-to-60 time—6.6 seconds
...
if we didn't know better, it wouldn't be at all difficult to believe the SC430 belonged to the Buick family, in spirit as well as appearance.
Ouch...
