Right now I'm a big GM fan thanks to the Camaro and Corvette, but in the sports sedan category I want my cake and I want to eat it too. The aspro V-8 of the Lexus is a typical Japanese engine with smooth high-revving power that's delivered in a surprisingly linear fashion. The interior is superb. The exterior fit and finish are exceeded, perhaps, by only a few cars costing more than a condo in Vancouver. And that's a perhaps - Lexus are the most finely detailed cars sold.
Boring? Not a chance. All reviews point to the fantastic and playful chassis that really allows you to use the engine. This is no ES350.
M5? Thanks but no thanks. I don't need to be sunburned by the CEL and no way you can drive one out of warranty unless you're willing to roll the (very loaded) dice on the cooling system taking a crap and destroying a $40K engine or some other catastrophic malady that BMW M-cars are now becoming famous for.
The Lexus is fast, fun, gorgeous, luxurious and can be enjoyed years and years after the warranty is gone.
