The sound of that Lexus V8 is mesmerizing.

Stick a few simple exhaust mods on this car and prepare to drool.

I actually saw a GS F the other day and didn't know what I was looking at until those signature double stacked exhaust tips came into view.  This is one heck of a sleeper.

Add the $4000 rebate on this car right now and it looks like an amazing value.

Yeah, this is probably where I would spend my cash if I were ever to do so... Except the whole RWD in this trim vs AWD in the, ahem, "lesser" trims.

Fantastic car, great engine!

This was a pretty glowing review of the GS-F

Awesome!  $4k is all that's standing in the way of my ability to purchase this $97k car!  :rofl2:

I had a good long visit with one in a Lexus showroom when I was shopping for a used GS.  One thing that never seems to translate in photographs (and it's definitely the case here) is how next-level the interior is compared to the standard GS.

One day, down the road, a used one may fall into the cross-hairs.

Perhaps the most desirable sedan on the market.  Fantastic V-8 engine, great chassis, remarkable build quality, not too big, not too small.  Oh, and I love the looks too.

Meh...the CTS-V costs similar, but has ~200 more lb-ft of torque.  This actually competes with the $55,000-75,000 CTS Vsport on performance results.

Lexus is really lacking in engines/outputs at this price behind everyone else.

RIP  GS....

Cadillac has a certain stigma attached to it, ESPECIALLY the CTS.  I won't even bring up the age bias associated with Caddy buyers (whoops I just did!) but there's also the fact that literally half the Uber Black and airport limo drivers are rocking CTS' these days.

In the $80-$100K market, its all about visibility and prestige.

Grab a GS-F and it looks like you've made successful life decisions

Drive a CTS and people will think they can flag you down for a cab ride.

Yeah....I'll stick with the CTS-V and its supercharged V8 that has a VW Golf worth of more power and torque, plus the face on this thing. I'm sure that engine is sweet and all, but, sorry.
Lighten up Francis.....

You buy the GS-F used in 5 years and it'll be a rock-solid, reliable, beautifully assembled, modern collectible with that N/A V8. The CTS-V? eh....

All valid points, none of which really matter to me.  The Cadillac's extra power means damned little outside of a racetrack.  I just watched a video comparison of the GS-F versus the much more powerful M5 where the reviewer said that the Lexus was clearly the more fun to drive car in the real world because its power was more useable.  And I think a high-revving naturally-aspirated V8 is and endangered species - even from Lexus.  I'd get one while I can if I could, before everything is boosted.  Or electric.  :-X

Plus, Lexus build quality versus GM?   :o  Please.

It will still be a MUCH faster car with maybe more squeaks and rattles....

ha, no doubt. I'll look fwd to watching that. My guess is the two cars approach the "super-sedan" concept differently enough that they'll ultimately appeal to different buyers.

Right now I'm a big GM fan thanks to the Camaro and Corvette, but in the sports sedan category I want my cake and I want to eat it too.  The aspro V-8 of the Lexus is a typical Japanese engine with smooth high-revving power that's delivered in a surprisingly linear fashion.  The interior is superb.  The exterior fit and finish are exceeded, perhaps, by only a few cars costing more than a condo in Vancouver.  And that's a perhaps - Lexus are the most finely detailed cars sold.

Boring?  Not a chance.  All reviews point to the fantastic and playful chassis that really allows you to use the engine.  This is no ES350.

M5?  Thanks but no thanks.  I don't need to be sunburned by the CEL and no way you can drive one out of warranty unless you're willing to roll the (very loaded) dice on the cooling system taking a crap and destroying a $40K engine or some other catastrophic malady that BMW M-cars are now becoming famous for.

The Lexus is fast, fun, gorgeous, luxurious and can be enjoyed years and years after the warranty is gone.

Nice they still make the V8. Accompanied a buddy in a test drive of an older GS400 and it was a thing of beauty.

I have nothing against the Lexus, I'm sure its a fantastic car in its own right, for me though, a 600+ hp Caddy sounds silly enough to make sense.

i've always like the newest CTS-V and ATS-V cars...but i won't pretend they come close to touching a Lexus in terms of reliability, quality and resale value (although the V cars likely have the best resale of the Caddy brand).

Yeah, probably, but a V car will always be WAY more exciting to fire up in the morning.
