Boss bike Ron.
Question, is Adventure just the new name for Enduro or '6 days'?
Does it have Enduro knobbies?

Google "Adventure bike" and have a look at the pictures. It's basically a long-distance touring bike, with a design nod towards off-pavement riding. Like something you'd want to ride up the Alaska highway or some gravel road to Hudson's Bay.

I think it started with the big BMW twins and spread from there. Now there's an adventure version of many bikes from 250-1200cc. Definitely not a dirt bike or an enduro, although a few start from the dirt-bike end of the spectrum and add a fairing and whatnot to become "Adventure."  Like the CCM linked above, or the old KTM 650 adventure, or maybe KLX650. But I think most start out as street bikes that get adventurized.

None will have proper knobbies. Closest would be those TKC-80s posted in rrocket's second Honda pic. Basically a 50/50 street/dirt compromise.

What Helidriver said. Adventure bikes like the Suzuki VStrom and BMW GS are road bikes that can be used for light trails, dual sports like Yamaha XT250 and KTM EXC-350 are dirt bikes that can be used on roads, and I'd say enduros like KTM 690 Enduro-R and Kawasaki KLR650 are a bit of both -- made for dirt but a bit heavy to do hardcore dirt trails, they're more suited to traveling long distances on a variety of road surfaces. I think under 300 lb = dual sport. Over 300 lb = enduro.

Supermotos appear to be performance dual sports?

It's basically a touring bike with longer suspension that can go anywhere..paved road or not (within reason). They offer better protecting from the elements than your typical dual sport. More comfortable for long hauls than your typical dual sport.

Here's a few pics of typical Adv riding. Mind you, some guys go around the world on these.

So, kind'a like a modern version of...say a '68 Honda CL450 Scrambler?

Wow, that is a cool bike at a great price.

In comparison, my buddy who just bought the Honda Africa Twin said he was close to $16k by the time he was done getting it on the road.

Looks like a neat bike. Should be fun!

I'm sure you were also aware of the CCM? I don't know much about them, but seems that it's more biased towards dirt. And probably expensive, too, although I haven't checked prices here.

Have a look at that CCM and then look at a BMW G450X,

Yeah, I thought I'd read somewhere that they were using the old BMW engine. They licensed it or bought the tooling?

So the CCM has the same concentric swingarm pivot/countershaft sprocket arrangement? But it's CCM's own frame design, right? Bonded aluminum or something?

I actually didn't know CCM was still using this design.  BMW got Kymco to make the engines, then when BMW bought Husqvarna  they had no more need for the G450X so the engine went into a Husky and later the CCM with a few changes.

Great purchase.  Normally I wouldn't give this bike a second look.  The engine is far too small and lacks power.  But, the package is perfect! The small engine makes good low end power and the bike is well suited to the power delivery - I've read all great reviews of the driveline.

It's also a Honda - meaning impeccable quality.  They make great bikes, period.  I've owned many Hondas and they were all high quality bikes.
