Mind, this car is fresh of the press and has yet even to be priced.

Meanwhile, the Ioniq EV’s price starts at $35,649 before rebates.

When this car was driven pricing hadn't been announced. In fact, up until yesterday it hadn't and it's still not up on the Hyundai Canada website.

So I followed up with Hyundai Canada and we broke the Ioniq pricing news yesterday.

Then I had Steven update his article.

But I asked him to leave just one instance of "non-pricing" untouched because I wanted to see if you still read our articles.   ;D

The Ioniq offers a range of up to 200 km from its 28 kWh lithium polymer battery, and government rebates could bring the price as low as $21,649 for Ontario residents.

Jacob, relax, it's not in your article, but since you've linked to it....  ;D

It actually comes to around 30 grand on the road in ON.

How is it that the Hyundai with a smaller battery than the Focus EV gets a larger rebate?

Larger rebate? No they both get the $14K rebate. $15K include the subsidies on the 240V charger and install.

This is not a good looking vehicle.  Reminds me in profile and from the back of the forgotten Honda ?? hybrid that was supposed to compete with Prius.  This would have been much more practical to have made it a hatch with that gradual sloping rear and high back end.   And it has near zero visibility back there.  I just don't get these weird sloping designs on sedans.

why cant people other than Tesla make a good looking "Green" car? They are all hideous or ungainly.

Plus, stupid name. Lean to spell.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I've looked at the Ioniqs at the TO show. It's a hatch. The exterior design is OK IMO, nothing extraordinary and MUCH easier on the eye than the Prius.

yea, i actually think the Ioniq looks pretty decent, at least in top trim...i haven't seen one in person though, but the photos i've seen look pretty good (IMO)...i'm not really understanding all the hate in here.

This car seems a little late to the party in order to be impressive in any way.

Hyundai does not offer it for lease, just regular financing. This says a lot of Hyundai expectations on how this car will retain is value over time..  :P
