As the weather cools the rides become slower and more technical. I work up a good sweat even if it's zero.

Another fun bikes 'n coffee event hosted by Rob.  Some of the self-appointed gatekeeper types like to scoff at such events, but I enjoy the heck out of them and I'm glad that Rob has started and maintained the tradition.  As usual, a good mix of bikes, with strong representation by both Honda and Triumph.  Hopefully the weather holds through October so we can have one more meetup.

Not sure why anyone would scoff at this. What’s cool to me is the mix of bikes. I’m used to seeing groups of Harleys, or sport bikes, etc., but not a mix like this. I don’t follow street bikes closely, so I like looking at the pics and figuring out what bikes are what. Thanks for the pics.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

It happens with any enthusiast group. You're not hard-core if you "insert BS here". You're not a real enthusiast unless you "insert BS here". Just a human nature thing that some need to feel better about themselves by putting down others.

But this gathering has always been defined by the diversity of bikes.  You'll see everything from super sports to baggers to adventure bikes to modern classics to actual classics. And sometimes a Honda Monkey.  ;D  Really interesting and really fun due to the mix.  And of course you can choose to make your ride there and back as hard core or as chill as you please.

The eclectic mix is cool.  So what goes down at the meet, I am curious about what is discussed? I would like to ask that Harley guy what's the deal with that sporty looking front end setup? Seems out of place or is it stock?

That Harley is bone stock - I forget which model it is, but it's one of the few from that brand that really catches my eye.

So for the meet, some riders arrive singly, in pairs or small groups.  Usually they plan a ride around the event - either ending at the meet if it's an early ride, or starting afterwards.  Lots of great riding roads (well, for Ontario anyway) in pretty much any direction from Georgetown.  At the meet itself, it's just a lot of milling around and talking bikes.  I'm always amazed at the number of people who ride completely different  bikes from me who will show an interest in my ride.  I have likewise learned a lot about a wide range of bikes from speaking with owners - I find that people are SUPER candid about the good and the bad, with little or none of the mindless fanboyism that seems more prevalent in other arenas.  Sometimes small groups of individuals who meet for the first time at the event, will ride out afterwards or set up a group ride in the near future.

I used to bust Bob's balls all the time about his affinity for Bikes and Coffee. While he was busting MY balls about riding a scooter! LOL [emoji38]

Used to tell him I was too busy for those gatherings because I was actually riding my bike! LOL [emoji38]

Some good ole ball breaking !
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Life gets busy, so if there's a good excuse to force an hour+ ride on a sunny Sunday to have a killer cup o' coffee, well, there are worse things than that. Plus, as Jaeger has said, it's an eclectic group, but generally quite receptive to chatting about everyone else's ride.  Hang out for a bit, enjoy the caffeine and chatting, then hop on and ride somewhere.

Was sorry I missed that one but was out of town.

Out here riding season is short so have to ride when the sun is shining so to speak. Will happily discuss motorcycles and such during the long cold winter, riding time which is precious needs to be for riding. Got a window yesterday and was able to burn a full tank on the new TE300. Started at 10:00 and ended at 3:00. Only two of us so minimal stopping except when we discussing new trails or lines. Winter is coming.

It's not an either/or proposition. You can do 3 hour ride before the event and another 4 hour ride after if you choose. Even when I do an all day ride, there's going to be a one hour stop for lunch. I'm sure the hard core gatekeepers will tell me that real riders don't eat lunch, or some such crap.  :rofl2: Not that I'm attributing that sentiment to you. Bottom line is there are as many ways to enjoy riding as there are riders - it's all good.

Yeah, there's lots of ways to do it

I liked motorcycles on long trips as it made them special, but riding to work and back every day when I was in S. Alberta was probably the best. Was a great way to start and end every day, and had to get to work anyway so no extra effort except putting on some gear

Also a handy skill to have on overseas trips, often some sort of opportunity to get ahold of a bike and explore

lol for sure. Riding a dirt bike on a full stomach really doesn't work so that typically precludes lunch.

Ya!

I endeavored to ride to work, rain or shine, for at least 90 days. After the 90 days, I just kept going and going...only stopped once there was ice on the road one night!!

Here's my bro on Easter Island a couple weeks ago...

Rented a bike and went exploring.

Got out for dig with Junior on Saturday. Beautiful weather. I’m sore AF today being my first ride of the season, and possibly the last.
