Well this has turned into a superb riding weekend.  Bikes 'n Coffee meet at Black Creek Coffee in Georgetown.  Helena's first ride out to a bike meet - as per usual, the Monkey was very well received.  And she got to see Rob's new orange bike and Jeff's new orange bike and my buddy Redjo's insane orange custom chopper.

We had fun chatting with a awesome group of riders of all different kinds of bikes, then stopped off at our local Oakville pub for lunch of curry and fish 'n chips.

My buddy saw that group with the old Nortons in Campbellville today. Looks like they were making the most of the great weather.

No doubt. Couldn't have been a more perfect day for a ride.

My wife LOVED the espresso she got from the Cafe. Wants a machine now.  :-X Don't know if you have one of their mugs, but they are awesome.

New to me. Enduro/dual sport/adventure is the only growing categories so not surprising I guess. Motocross is interesting.

This is old news. I posted about it year(s) ago when Ricky was hired.

You don't hire one of the greatest motocross riders of all time unless you're committed to off road bikes.

Looks like it's finally coming together

I wonder if the bikes will be built in Thailand? I can't see them being built in the UK since they are banning ICE bikes soon. Illegal to start and test them in the UK?

so i've been practicing riding around neighborhood every 2~3 days for a while now.

i feel more comfortable on the bike.

still scared sh1tless in high speed heavy traffic.  like the other day, going downhill on 70km/h road, this jackhole in blue toyota was tailgating me... thankfully disappeared into traffic as we merged onto another road.

anyway, question for you guys.  how do those helmet communicators work?  i have to wear ear plugs cuz my helmet's loud at 70+, so do these helmet communicators just blast sound with speakers inside the helmet, and you can hear over the wind noise and ear plugs?

do noise cancelling earphones work instead?

another thing, i'll try riding for a while yet, but unfortunately, i have not found feeling of excitement or freedom in riding.  more a chore than fun.
i think it may be partly due to having relatively fast-ish convertible, cuz i can just pop out in flip flops and shorts, listening to V8 noise, exposed to sky while going faster than my cruiser bike and being way more comfortable.   maybe if i started riding when i was younger, i would feel differently about?..  not sure but something i ponder about lately.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

I don't get the appeal of on-road riding either, especially highway/freeway stuff. I do love being on backroads though on a bike, offroad is even better. For me the less pavement my bike wheels see the better. There are endless amounts or gravel/dirt offerings.

On the appeal of general riding, found it really depended on how much traffic there was where I lived, and if the riding fit into regular life

In Lethbridge and Medicine Hat, traffic was light and taking the bike made the mundane of driving to work into something special. Here in Edmonton with the heavy traffic it was just no fun at all

On longer trips, curvy roads like in the Maritimes or England are great on a bike, but the long straight runs in the Prairies are a marginal call

The fact you basically have a 4 wheel motorcycle to compare it too also complicates things
