No. it's much bigger than the Z50.

Similar vibe.  Everything gets bigger.

Good example.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Wife hit an indicated 102 on the Monkey yesterday. Throttle pinned. Hey, there's lots of different ways to celebrate Mother's Day.  ;D At least we know the speedo goes to three digits.  :rofl2:

Nice. Not much less than when I cry no mas on the 501. Well that is around 140  (due to gearing) but I digress. That is hauling on that little sled.

4 days in the woods was wonderous for the soul. 2 days solo, 2 days with a partner. This is about as complicated as camp gets for me. Weather was perfect. Some nasty storms at night but tacky, no dust, no bugs and tshirt weather in the evenings. Very few people around.

Looks like a nice setup.

Whereabouts was that? General location is fine if you don’t want to give away your secret spots.  ;D

We were in Radium/Invermere a couple weeks ago and it was already super dry and dusty.

Columbia Valley south of you a "bit". Must have timed rains good as it was very green. More green that I have seen. Consecutive nights of lightning storms with lots of rain. The moto tent held up just fine.

To me it's relaxing, moreso than going to some beach in a warm country. Hard ride during the day followed by a couple hours of zoning out in a chair with a few beers and off to sleep early.

Been thinking about maybe getting one of these for my wife. I sent her the link the other day, and instead of the response I expected (No freaking way!), she just said “That looks fun.”

https://surron.ca/pages/light-bee-x

I haven’t gotten around to selling my dirt bike, and now think I probably won’t bother. If my wife had the Light Bee, I’d probably get out more, as we could go together. She’s a solid rider, just intimidated by proper dirt bikes these days (she’s torn an ACL and had a compound tib/fib fracture.)

Not sure if the Light Bee is just a toy, or if it would be a real option on tight singletrack. If we could ride McLean singletrack together again, that would be awesome.

Those are cool. I was thinking while riding if I was a young guy today I might have forgone off road dirt bikes in favour of an electric mountain bike. The key for good off road exploring is to have a street legal dual sport, it's the only to connect up the good stuff and you don't want to be crammed in an off road park.  In the thick bush in BC I like the burble of the engine to ward off those furry brown things in the remote valleys. Hell I even use my horn when the sight lines get short.

Well, I’ll still be scaring the bears with my 2-stroke!   ;D

We’re too soft for sleeping on the ground these days. Got the trailer, so it’s nice to have a camp with a proper bed and shower. Had some great times at Bear Creek in Kelowna. Nice little campground right next to the trails.

We’ve even had some good times camping at McLean (official campground, not the bush.) Summer can be a redneck shitshow, but later in the season has been nice.

It's weird. The first few days of sleeping on the ground is uncomfortable but then it feels like you adapt and no problemo afterwards. Sleeping on memory foam in a box makes you soft.  ;)

It seems like post covid is in full effect. Plenty of  2-3 year old dirt bikes/ dual sports with minimal hours on them up for sale. Lots of people buying "freedom dreams" and then putting 10 hours on bike in the last couple years.

Next fun step is helping sellers understand that they do not "own" bike but the entity they are making payments to is.  ::)

nice trip!  What precaution do you take for riding solo? you bring stuff for bears?

carry enough to spend a somewhat uncomfortable night in the woods. Sounds like a lot but discounting water weight probably no more than 9lbs total including the pack.

1) First rule is to dial the riding back to "solo". I ride at about 75%max of my normal pace, never "pushing it". At that pace things really need to go sideways to have a life threatening injury. I always wear full gear when solo including a full chest protector.

2) Carry basic tools to allow for field repairs (tubes/patches), spare plug and some fuel line, JB weld etc)

3) Bear spray yes. In fact I need to get handlebar mount as I needed it a few years ago and it was not that helpful tied to my hydration pack. Also basic survival stuff and first aid kit. folding saw.

4) hydration pack with water filter. Water is a must. Enough stuff to spend a night  in the woods.

5) A spot locator (I use a Garmin mini) to call in the cavalry but also to keep my contacts updated. I can share a map and they can track my progress in 10 minute intervals.

FWIW, I also carried a few tampons with me.

They make excellent emergency wound dressing. Can be used for puncture wounds, put in nose, unwrapped to make a great gauze/dressing. Use whatever tape you have to affix to body.
