Great pictures Roger and a great area to ride around.

Nice breakfast in Elora...

This doesn't look like the Elora Mill  :P  Where did you eat? Always looking for a new place.

The Elora Cafe.  Mostly light breakfast food - breakfast bagels and bougie avocado surprise type stuff - but it was good.  And the pastries were facking fantastic.  Had a chocolate walnut scone-thing that was a life-changing experience.  Not the place for a big fry-up, though.

And yeah - beautiful countryside for riding.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

You had me at pastries  :lick:  I know where this is and it sounds more like what we would want. Going to give it a try next time we go up there.

^ Beautiful shots. Love those pipes.

Went for a scoot with Junior in the woods yesterday. Was a perfect day, 16-18C while riding and calm. Fresh rear rubber on both bikes. Only my second ride for the year and likely the last for 2022.

I took a very brief spin on my friend's Kawasaki Z800 a few months ago, but earlier this week we swapped bikes for the entire return leg of our ride - about an hour through the countryside.

150cc bigger and only about 15 extra hp, I wasn't expecting a dramatic difference but a few random impressions.

1) That extra 15 hp is pretty facking evident. 10,000 rpm in second gear is a very happy place on my bike, but on his it is pulling noticeably harder.

2) The extra torque from the larger displacement is the real difference - noticeably meatier midrange.

3) I'd say the Kawi has the slightly smoother motor - though both are pretty damned smooth.

4) His bike is heavier, and that's something I felt in tight, slow speed corners.  Otherwise not noticeable at all.

5) I'd give the clutch and shifter feel to the Honda.  They are known for it for a reason.  Again, not the difference between good and bad, but between good and better.  Also, no slip/assist on the Kawi clutch, so you have to be precise in matching revs on downshifts or the bike will wag its tail.

6) Suspension I'd really give the decisive win to the Honda.  Might not be fair, as his bike is many years (2018) and many miles older and I have no idea when or if any suspension components have been replaced or what their state of wear might have been.  But the CB felt perfectly composed, well-damped and utterly unflappable, while the Kawi felt somewhat "loose" in comparison.

7) comfort / riding position - the bikes could be clones in terms of rider triangle.  A bit more padding on his seat, I'd say, but not a noticeable difference over the course of an hour.

Overall it was really neat getting to experience a different bike on familiar roads.  Definitely need to try out Rob's Tiger sometime next season.

Motorcycling in dangerous places     :(

Really no consequences for petty crime in Canada anymore so not surprising.

Yikes! They live outside? That's no way to treat a lady.  ;D I have two in the garage and one in the shed. The odd winter one comes in to live in the the walkout basement while it gets worked on .

I have room in my garage for one of your bikes if you want. Then you're not waiting for your yard to thaw a month into riding season.

Temps in the mid-teens and no rain in the forecast through the weekend.  Thank you weather gods!  Will be unnecessarily riding up into country for lunch every day that I can.

New Honda Transalp looks pretty good - a more attractive design for its class than the Hornet, IMO.

Suzuki's answer to the Hornet: the lyrically-named GSX 8s.  Better-looking bike IMO - though the Transformer headlight trend needs to die already.

We may see snow on the weekend - but yesterday was 17 degrees and sunny and I was able to get out for a lunchtime ride with one of the Oakville gang.  Felt really good to be rolling this far in November.

That is not good. My biggest fear when riding backroads and forest service roads especially at night. The mule deer tend to settle down once darkness settles in but those damn smaller white tails are much more skittish. I did low side into a cow when I was younger at moderate speed. That was now fun but fortunately no damage.

Not a lot of good options when they do the 'starters sprint' like that. Dodging them can go wrong too

Go for the lowside. Less mass down there.
