Talk about having a good and a bad day
So most body shops wanted me to leave the bike overnight
So I took the day off today and went thru the electrical schematics and shortlisted the issue to a 4 pin connector
Had never done it but took the fairing apart and found the connector and fixed the problem
Was so proud of myself
Decided to take the bike for a spin
Turned right from our street to a adjacent street and the bike fell
I don’t know what I was doing wrong
Was not doing more than 10kmph
No oil on the road
What I did wrong was a mystery
Rode 1000s of kms without falling back home
Have a bruised knee and am limping… unbelievable how much u can get hurt falling at 10kmph
Thank god for the shoes and gloves
Shows the value of good riding gear. Next time riding pants for me
So frustrating to fall at 10kmph and don’t know what I did wrong

What is with the DB blue lights? Should have told that guy to go home.  ;D

Frame lights seemed quite popular. Don't really get it.

Cold tires/cold ground. Low speed = little cornering stick. I assume you low sided? Walk us through the drop.

At 10kph, if it was a tight right hand turn, he simply might not have had enough road speed.  Sounds more to me like a simple drop, rather than a low-side (front or rear tires losing grip and sliding out from under you).  Too slow with the bars fully locked and the bike will just topple over and drop.  Very glad to hear he was wearing decent gear and will add riding pants going forward.

^ Beautiful shots. Love those pipes.

Went for a scoot with Junior in the woods yesterday. Was a perfect day, 16-18C while riding and calm. Fresh rear rubber on both bikes. Only my second ride for the year and likely the last for 2022.

Ouch. Sorry to hear and hope you're on the mend. Don't be too hard on yourself, I've also dropped a bike at very low speed and it was all very unexpected. Subtle changes to weight distribution can be enough to lose gyroscopic forces required to keep the bike upright, I used the front brake while thinking I was going to make a sharp right then decided I was going to go left and back in instead, then the bike went down. Were you braking during the turn?

You can brake or turn but not both!

A couple pics from recent ride. Trying to squeeze one more in before the snow hits and closes done the high stuff. Leaves are a nemesis at this time of year.

The specs near the top of the ridge are bikes.. Failure was not a good option.

So true. Can’t tell what the surface is like underneath (hard pack to sand in the woods around here) and when you need to stop or turn quickly, you’re skidding on top of them. They make traction very unpredictable.

Paris, ON.  Seems like my rides take me to different points along the Grand River.  Really must ride the length of this thing in one shot sometime.

Thanks for all your wishes. I am on the mend. The bruise on the knee means pain every time I flex the knee (which is basically all the time you walk to climb stairs) so I am still limping. Also there is a bit of pain in the feet when I put pressure but it's very mild and kinda dull. Hoping the knee heals soon so that I can start walking straight. I guess depending on if the bruise is deep it should take 2 weeks to be back to normal.

As per the fall, it happened so quickly, I don't remember much. I fell in the initial part of the turn and slid all through the turn (saw the marks left behind by the fairing).
The road was not oily or wet, and I did not brake during the turn. I probably changed gears.

I feel the bike lost balance due to shifting gears or due to low speed. I could be wrong here but  I feel I underestimated the weight of the bike.
I used to do peg scrappers on my 100cc bike in India in the early 2000s (where road quality is not as good and driver discipline is the worst) and rode thousands of KM in all types of traffic and never fell.

The fall has bruised my ego and confidence much more than it has hurt my body.

Saturday morning (22nd Oct): If I am able to wear jeans without scrapping my bruised knee too much (riding pants are here, will wear them over the jeans), my plans is to do a quick trip to the forks of the credit.  Will post some pics of the bike and the location if i do..
Thank you once again.

Spectacular weather for late October.  The plan was to ride up to Elora with the Oakville group, meet Rob there, ride on to West Montrose together, then ride back to Acton with Rob, then on home.  And the plan almost worked - except Rob intercepted our group just outside of Rockwood, and bombed his Tiger right into the middle of our formation like a boss.  :rofl2: :skid:

Nice breakfast in Elora...

then on to West Montrose

Ran into a Mustang club here, and the cars were cool and all, but the drivers were being obnoxious in that not-atypical Mustang way.  It's Sunday. We are right outside a Mennonite church.  Maybe you DON'T need to be sitting there revving the :censor: out of your engines all in unison?  ::)

Ride from there to Acton was awesome, as we basically just wandered all over the place looking for decent spots for pics.

I don't know if this will be the last group ride of the season, but if it was, it ended on a high note.
