Yep, and a nope from me!

Most of the roads were good. It’s just the side roads and parking lots that were slushy.

What about road salt? Aren’t you concerned about corrosion on all these shiny aluminum bits?

I washed the bike at the car wash near my house and the city doesn’t use salt on the roads anymore after a rash of complaints.

You are in Edmonton? Edmonton quit using calcium chloride in favour of road salt (sodium chloride). They quit using the liquid calcium chloride in favour of road salt mixed with sand. they are most definitely using salt.

It's not that bad though as it takes humidity to really get the salt working. It is so dry on the prairies that it isn't too bad. Also when it's cold the salt is doing nothing either.

Ah, makes sense. Everyone hated the calcium chloride.

I bought my bike for $1300 a year ago and it’s a bit of a beater (laid down by previous owners a couple of times) so I’m not all too concerned about it. It gets me around and costs nothing to run.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it.  Too many shiny 20 year old bikes with low kms on them. They never get used.

The chest armour arrived today. Can't believe it was in stock so bought it right away before they disappear for another year. My old Thor has done yeoman service for nearly 20 years so time for one last one. Quite light for C2 protection everywhere.

Yeah back when things were still built to last..  I am keeping the Thor for colder days as it doesn't flow as much air which on some days may be a good thing.

Itchy boots crossing (bypassing) the Darien Gap in a dodgy AF motorized canoe, dodging water-borne gun-wielding thugs.  She has guts to spare.

Or you can build a raft and use your motorcycle to power it.

I was at the Little Paris Bread Company and saw these next door. Bad pics as shot through glass.

bike museum?

From what I was told this is the guy's office and he keeps his bikes there. He used to or still does race but this is second hand info from the bakery which is worth visiting.

Anyone done a fly and rent bike trip? I am considering it with a friend for summer. All Covid considerations in play.

We were considering Las Vegas as there are a few trips around there as well as affordable flights. Maybe a 3 day or so trip.

For rentals there is - https://www.eaglerider.com/
Or the ride share concept is cheaper more unknowns - https://www.riders-share.com/listings/las-vegas-nv/
