remember 3 wheeled ATVs???...FortNine did a neat video on them:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_C8z0rFnjk

The first time I rode a 3 wheeler I had just got off a motorcycle.  When tried turning I put down my inside foot, ran over it and pulled me right off the trike.

Yeah I think they got banned in the UK because of how dangerous they were.

More dangerous than a quad, but lighter and more agile. The first balloon tire versions were hilarious

The old machines are gaining popularity and thus value, especially the Honda 250 2 strokes.

I remember riding a Honda 250R. Was a racing 3 wheeler with a Honda CR250 2 stroke engine in it. Yamaha also sold their version with the YZ250 engine in it known as the "Tri-Z".

Was definitely the sketchiest off road vehicle I've ridden and have no idea how they were even allowed to sell these things LOL

Yeah, it's crazy.  People reliving their youth, or, racers wanting the best pit-bike?   Glad I grabbed my RV50 when I did.

You'd think with everyone having to stay at home, lots of people out of work, prices would actually come down on stuff.  Ever look at puppies?  We got our Golden for $300ish...they normally sell them for $700ish (non-registered but still purebred and our had a flawed testicle - he might also be the only one left alive from the litter  ;D).  They're upwards of $2g or more...kid found puppies in TO for $4000!!! For Golden Retriever puppies...holy fack! Not surprised then that everyone thinks their old POS bike is worth 2X what it was new.  1976 Goldwing...(asking) $12,000... https://www.kijiji.ca/v-street-cruisers-choppers/winnipeg/honda-motorcycle-1976-gl1000-ltd/1515458679

Or...2008 Goldwing...$13,000
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-touring/winnipeg/2008-honda-gl-1800-a8-goldwing-black/1541663542

Hmm...if I wanted a GW...sure as hell wouldn't buy the old one.  1 of 2000 or not.

that '76 Goldwing is pretty cool, but yea, way too expensive...i know it's been fully refurbished, so that's worth something, but my guess is $8k or less...for $12k, you can buy a much newer bike.

Makes sense though.

No vacations = more money for toys

WFH = good time to get a puppy

Still no way that a shitty mini-bike from the 70's is worth $4K. Someone with more money than sense will buy it.

2021 is going to be a weird year for lux goods businesses. They couldn't get enough motorcycles, dirtbikes, ATV's, MTB's in quick enough and they all sold out very fast, used prices doubled. So next year either they'll still do well as everybody looks for something to do this Summer rather than go abroad, or everyone will be spent up, recession kicks in, and they'll have a much worse year than 2020. Really hard to tell.

Some supply chains (bicycle components) still haven't recovered yet so there may still be a shortage.

I won't but it seem some are...
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-honda-ct70-trail-70-20/
A lot of them went thru BAT https://bringatrailer.com/search/ct70/

I like more the '76 GW above, much humble, less gentrified version as the 2nd one, but I won't pay neither 12K even if CAD $.

Yes, I don't expect 2021 to be a usual / normal year, not before at least 2022...

I love the Scrambler XC.  One of three Triumphs I could easily see myself owning - along with the Trident and Speedmaster.
