The PCX was $4,099 when they last sold it here, which sells in Indonesia for $2700-$3000. So the ADV 150 would squeak under $5,000 here.
if they sell it for $2700-$3000 there, they should just sell it for $3000 here...maybe they'd actually sell some.

that does look good...judging by the prices available, it should likely be in the ballpark of about $3000 - $3500 here (supposedly about $2600 USD converted over)...Honda Canada, if you're reading this, you'd sell these if they were affordable enough to bring over...price them at $5k, yea, they'll likely collect dust...but if you can get them under $4k, hopefully much less, they'll sell.
i just checked Honda Canada's website...the only scooter they have here now is the Ruckus...dumb...no one wants a 50cc scooter here...you might as well just buy an ebike so you don't need gas, insurance, plates or anything...plus, the Ruckus is $3400...if they want $3400 for that thing, they'll likely want $6000 for the ADV 150...shame.

It's a weird scooter market now, they're such low volume that Honda and Yamaha seem to be pulling out. Yamaha doesn't sell 49ccs anymore, Honda only sells a 49cc, Suzuki is the sole occupier in the big Japanese scooter category. Piaggio and their subsidiary Vespa are still business as usual while BMW is expanding their scooter lineup. Aprilia is down to a single 49cc model, Kymco supposedly is still very much in the market but they don't have an Albertan presence, SYM is gone, and I'm not sure about the other Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean scooters.

Honda Canada also does not offer the XR650 so you know they are not smart. ;)

Kawasaki is pulling their KLR650 after this year too.

What? After all the recent updates?  ;)

Taxes and stuff maybe? But Piaggio can sell their Liberty 150S ABS for $3399 which is the scooter I'd get if I were to buy one today.

The XR650L looks straight out of the 80s!

i never see those...i don't there are any dealers around here for them.

if they can sell that for $3400, surely Honda could manage to sell the ADV 150 for $3999 or less?

If you have a Vespa dealer, they sell Piaggios which is the parent company.

none here...i think Inglis used to sell them, but they've dropped a ton of foreign brands in the last few years...i think they had Vespa/Piaggio and they also had Ducati, Moto Guzzi, and Aprillia (likely all from the same corporate group).

Just missed hitting a deer on the way home...it was way too close. Full ABS panic stop...I missed her by maybe a foot. Could clearly see her eyelashes she was so close.

I have a rule when I ride home at night that I generally do 10km/h below the limit (if no traffic behind)...I think this helped.

Yikes! Glad you're safe. I also hate riding out of town on night, I won't even take the ring road.

It was in front of an apple orchard. I caught the flash before hand and thought "dog? "...thinking it was going to chase me. By the time the thought barely entered my mind, the deer was in front of me. I could hear the front tire lightly squealing as the ABS was working. I remember thinking I was going down...funny how stuff goes through your mind.

There's another route I take where I KNOW there's deer. I nicked one in my 911. When I drive by there, I drop it down to 50....

They should put deer crossing signs there.

There's a turtle crossing sign near my house.

I think hitting a large snapper would be like hitting a big rock and might not end well!

With the pictures now out, a brief summary of my trackday at Circuit Dijon Prenois last monday.

Dijon is one of the fastest circuits in the country, with mostly wide, high speed corners and just a couple corners with elevation change. The front straight is long, with a litre bike you're easily pushing 300 km/h and even on the YZF-R6 I rented, I saw 250+. Weather conditions were hot, just at the front end of the canicule (heatwave) in the mid 30s.

Spent the morning learning the track, learning the bike, then finally after lunch things began to come together and I found a good rhythm. Indeed the experience showed I really need to get a move on and buy a R6 because compared to my little R3, the supersports require legitimate effort and technique to corner rapidly. The private coaching I had last month clicked....."ah I see now ". Fortunately with the more aggressive riding position and more space to move around, it was easier to apply what I'd learned. I was finally getting on pace by mid afternoon, gaining the pace of the faster riders in the group.

Unfortunately as I mentioned earlier, I crashed. A flubbed downshift from 3-2 caught between gears mid-corner at full lean, and then in the process of trying to recover, it slipped into gear suddenly, locking up the rear wheel, causing the high-side. I was happy I walked away from it all. Bruised my right heel and a few other pressure points, but all is healing now.

Crashes happen. It's a risk that I accept when I get into this stuff. But it doesn't turn me off; rather it encourages me to learn and improve. I'll take a short pause in August to let my pocketbook recover, and later this season, I'll hop back on a bike, and ride faster against the chrono. Luckily in France, there is no shortage of opportunity to ride on the circuit, and the season stretches even longer in Espagne  :lick:

As for the bike, I'd given the R6 another chance and it proved itself. When going over the pictures, I feel terrible about binning that track-prepped R6 from Activbike  :'( :'(  So why now the desire to have one instead of the Ducati 959 ? My fear is that the Duc 959 would be physically much more involving- at 205kg it is a whopping 12kg heaver than the R6 and thus harder to turn in. I wish Yamaha would refresh the motor, but the revised suspension and shifter (up only) were very agreeable during my stint and the throttle calibration was much improved over the 2012 I rode last year at Alès. I have work to do as a pilote, but the R6 makes more sense to me now. Its added agility and reduced weight are big plus points, and availability on the 2nd hand market is 2nd to none in its class. So i'll be trying to sell the R3 and find a track-ready or near track ready R6.

No slipper clutch?

Cool shots though. Glad you're still interested in riding.

Bought a new rain jacket....it's a modern membrane and is waterproof AND windproof and breathable.

Because of this functionality, it will replace my ultralight wind jacket and rain jacket.

Also bought a Calsci screen.

Have put on about 800kms already.

Thinking about going to this.

https://reynoldsmuseum.ca/events/motorcycle-ride-reynolds

It is a long boring ride to get there but should be a fun event.
