Geezus, thats a crazy amount of wear for 16hrs.  Harsh conditions and a lot of power.  I was looking at my kids rear the other day on his 250.  Looks fairly fresh, lots of life left for the riding we do, 40 hrs  :rofl2:.

There may have been some rear wheel power steering going on lol. It's crazy the things that wea when you start to charge. My brake pads were fairly fresh too and now it looks like the fronts are done. Casual riding these things would last me a lot longer. I guess it is no different than taking a car to the track, tires and brakes are quick wear items.

I'm too old and creaky to wear stuff out like that...well, at least on dirtbikes.

I hear you, only a few years away from touring a 1190 on gravel roads.

I had my first crash at the circuit last monday.

More specifically, at one of the fastest circuits in France : Circuit Dijon Prenois, at la gauche de la Bretelle, a downhill sweeper taken at 130 km/h.

I had just gotten the hang of the rental 2018 Yamaha YZF-R6, put in some good hot laps. Descending into the corner, I shifted 3-2. The gearbox went between gears (neutral), realising the fault I instinctively reduced lean and headed off the race ligne, but the gearbox then dropped into 2nd. This locked the rear wheel, leading to a high side at around 120. The bike and I flew thru the air and tumbled a few times.

I was mostly okay and scrambled to the sideline, the commissaires took care of the rest.

My right heel is pretty banged up, since yesterday I cannot put weight on it and it's bruised. I suspect this was one of the first points of impact with the tarmac, though likely the boot prevented further twisting or injury. The rest of me is fine. The helmet will need to be replaced.

The bike......fared less well. The dégâts were extensive : both wheels, the fairings, exhaust, fork, and probably others.

I'll do a full write up later, but not the way I'd wanted to finish an otherwise decent trackday. But nonetheless, a learning experience. And I'd come to like the R6 too, it will likely be my next bike.

Yikes! Sorry to hear. Luckily no broken bones, heal fast bro.

Is insurance covering the bike?

i can't imagine insurance covers "racing".

It's a racing rental so there might have been some coverage available.

The R6 was a rental from the organiser, Activbike.

The damage was clearly above the caution/deposit of 2 k€- the two wheels alone cost that much (the value of the bike is close to 19 k€). So I was charged 2 k€; they swallow the rest.

Honda is releasing a cheaper version of the X-ADV for emerging markets, the ADV 150. Looks pretty cool.

I e-mailed Honda Canada, as I wanted the full size version.

Ditto the T-Max 530 DX with Yamaha Canada.

Both said "no", not coming.  Not coming to US either.

The guys at ADVRider absolutely LOVE their X-ADVs...one guy even went so far as to import one from France.

BTW...those are some expensive rear shocks for a 150cc scooter (judging by the photos)

Great pics KTM, what an amazing ride, would love to do something like that.

Bad luck mlin, at least you had the insurance, sensible stuff.  Glad you're OK.

Yeah, that sucks mlin, but I'm very glad you're (mostly) okay.

that does look good...judging by the prices available, it should likely be in the ballpark of about $3000 - $3500 here (supposedly about $2600 USD converted over)...Honda Canada, if you're reading this, you'd sell these if they were affordable enough to bring over...price them at $5k, yea, they'll likely collect dust...but if you can get them under $4k, hopefully much less, they'll sell.

Good to hear you were able to walk away. This won't deter you from track riding will it? It shouldn't, probably safer than riding the streets.

Not at all ! I want my foot and bank account to heal quickly so I can do the next one, and am figuring out the best way to procure a R6. It is one of a few things I'm passionate about, and it makes me rather happy no matter what the outcome.

I no longer ride on the street.

i just checked Honda Canada's website...the only scooter they have here now is the Ruckus...dumb...no one wants a 50cc scooter here...you might as well just buy an ebike so you don't need gas, insurance, plates or anything...plus, the Ruckus is $3400...if they want $3400 for that thing, they'll likely want $6000 for the ADV 150...shame.

Honda Canada also does not offer the XR650 so you know they are not smart. ;)

The PCX was $4,099 when they last sold it here, which sells in Indonesia for $2700-$3000. So the ADV 150 would squeak under $5,000 here.

It's a weird scooter market now, they're such low volume that Honda and Yamaha seem to be pulling out. Yamaha doesn't sell 49ccs anymore, Honda only sells a 49cc, Suzuki is the sole occupier in the big Japanese scooter category. Piaggio and their subsidiary Vespa are still business as usual while BMW is expanding their scooter lineup. Aprilia is down to a single 49cc model, Kymco supposedly is still very much in the market but they don't have an Albertan presence, SYM is gone, and I'm not sure about the other Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean scooters.

Honda Canada also does not offer the XR650 so you know they are not smart. ;)

Kawasaki is pulling their KLR650 after this year too.
