I had my first crash at the circuit last monday.
More specifically, at one of the fastest circuits in France : Circuit Dijon Prenois, at la gauche de la Bretelle, a downhill sweeper taken at 130 km/h.
I had just gotten the hang of the rental 2018 Yamaha YZF-R6, put in some good hot laps. Descending into the corner, I shifted 3-2. The gearbox went between gears (neutral), realising the fault I instinctively reduced lean and headed off the race ligne, but the gearbox then dropped into 2nd. This locked the rear wheel, leading to a high side at around 120. The bike and I flew thru the air and tumbled a few times.

I was mostly okay and scrambled to the sideline, the commissaires took care of the rest.
My right heel is pretty banged up, since yesterday I cannot put weight on it and it's bruised. I suspect this was one of the first points of impact with the tarmac, though likely the boot prevented further twisting or injury. The rest of me is fine. The helmet will need to be replaced.

The bike......fared less well. The dégâts were extensive : both wheels, the fairings, exhaust, fork, and probably others.

I'll do a full write up later, but not the way I'd wanted to finish an otherwise decent trackday. But nonetheless, a learning experience. And I'd come to like the R6 too, it will likely be my next bike.
