Oh the speeding and the weaving -- that they weren't as innocent as they proclaimed to be.

Oh!!

I understand now.  I thought there were further details beyond that.....

So was it a combination then that ultimately led to his death?  Like the bike and the lady both drove irresponsibly...and those two situations came together and caused his death type of thing?  She would have been charged with some type of manslaughter if it was a deliberate thing I'm guessing.

The situation is tragic but the responsibility belongs to the rider. When riding on the streets you have to assume that every vehicle that could cause you harm is an undertrained idiot who is not paying attention. Driving aggressively on the street in traffic is just a recipe for disaster. Hopefully that is the only one we read about this year.

Both were contributing factors.

There's been 2 more motorcycling fatalities in Edmonton since. One where a motorcycle was in the middle of a 4 vehicle rear ender (mother survived, adult daughter who was the passenger died) and a single vehicle motorcycle accident where the rider failed to navigate through a turn.

2018 was the worse year in BC in over a decade, 51 fatalities.

Carbon fiber wheel failure!

Despite my love of these, I'd never, ever, EVER run these on the street...

Pretty terrible for wheels that likely cost more than our 300 class bikes.

We chatted with him several times over the years....he was just such a nice, friendly, normal guy.

Damn that is nasty. I went for a good 4 hour single track on the adventure on the Husky last night. Snow is almost all gone and the Ridges were nice but a little mucky down low. I probably have an hour of pressure washing later this afternoon.

Damn that is nasty. I

It gets better! I had my air jacket on, so the smaller bugs that didn't die on impact make it through the large mesh...so you can feel them crawling around on you!

Yikes! I had a bee in the helmet situation on Wednesday riding some singletrack. Tried to squish him but slamming my hand to my helmet. That only partially got him. Fortunately got the lid off before he recovered.

2 died yesterday when a motorcyclist lost control in a curve and ended head on with an incoming car. From the pictures of the accident I can see extreme ape hanger bars. Could that have a role in the accident? How can one control a bike with those stupid bars?

I had a set of those on my Wide Glide.

No problems.

on their own, they aren't too bad (you get used it)...a major rake is much harder to maneuver with, but mostly at low speeds (parking lot, etc)...could be a number of factors, but likely speed is the reason...they were going faster than they could likely handle the corner, went wide, and hit the car...wind can also play a contributing factor...a big gust mid turn can push you into the other lane.

Preview of the Fiddy Run.

The Fiddy Run is a Scooter and small displacement rally from David Thompson Columbia Icefields to Jasper and back. My ride was this borrowed 1983 Honda Mascot (Aero in the US). Peter rode a 1985 Honda Aero.

I can't wait to read this adventure.

A Jay Leno's Garage from Dec. 2012.  It features the first new vehicle Jay ever bought: a 1981 Honda CBX, 6 cylinder.
