So this all happened out of the blue? Journey driver went full crazy for no reason? Wtf?
The riders could have done something to anger the driver but the riders had no interaction with the driver until they caught up with the driver, hence the driver’s position of being in front of them. That’s the scary part that we could trigger a driver’s anger that easily. They were likely going faster than the flow of traffic to catch up but come on, there’s no excuse to kill a rider.
The riders still think the driver will claim they panicked at the sight of motorcyclists rapidly coming up behind them, swerved around, then rapidly slowed down. Or the rider didn’t maintain safe follow distance as the driver swerved around trying to impede their forward movement. It’s still no excuse to ever kill a rider.
Maybe it was extreme careless driving? The evidence doesn’t support it though.
People do stupid like that here all the time. This doesn’t surprise me at all. On the way home from the ski hill today this idiot woman in a new 4Runner was very purposely blocking the person in front of me from merging onto the freeway.
Why? Why would you do that? The person merging did absolutely nothing wrong. Just trying to get onto the freeway.
There’s just a lot of a-holes on the road and they have 5000lb weapons at their disposal.
Oh I see that way too often here. I think half the time it’s because people think people merging from an on-ramp have to yield (thank goodness the NDP are unprivatizing the driving exam industry), and half the time people drive with extreme tunnel vision.
I think I'm more amazed by the fact it's riding season in Edmonton of all places, when it's still snowing here!
Well it’s not warm enough for the fairweather riders to get out and there are slippery spots here and there but the freeway where the crash occurred is among the best maintained everywhere and is always bare within days after a snowfall. Road conditions played no part in the crash.
Environment Canada says Edmonton will hit 16°C Thursday.
