Yes, it's impacted by both but there is nothing to be done. In Europe there are fewer recalls. If it gets extended to the EU then I might consider getting it done. Man, so many recalls on this bike.......*shrugs* but no biggie.

Meh, even Honda 300s had a recall on a crankshaft, no big deal.

Harley Davidson sent me a 0.99% financing offer e-mail on 2018 and earlier models including Street, so I thought I'd check it out. Seems they've lowered the price on all their Street models, especially the Street 500 to compete with the Honda Rebel 500. Good to see them come out of their bubble and realize they needed to have a loss leader to attract new riders to the brand. $6,999 for a Street 500 vs. $7,199 for the Rebel 500, but the Rebel comes standard with ABS brakes while it's a $560 add on for the Street.

The Street 750 comes in at $8,499 and doesn't have any real competitors I can think of. There's the Suzuki Boulevards and Yamaha VStars but they have air cooled engines, 5 speed transmissions, and rear drum brakes. Hard to imagine HD being ahead of the competition in terms of technology. I know you can get naked Suzuki/Yamaha 650/700 which offer more power for less but there seems to be a price premium for cruisers.

Then there's the Street Rod at $9,399, probably the most compelling Harley Davidson for people who like to take corners with a 37/40 degree lean angle, but at 68 HP it's still short on power compared to the nakeds I mentioned above while costing quite a bit more. Can HD do better?

FWIW, the liquid cooled engines in the Street series bikes was co-developed with Porsche. :)

the Street series bikes don't interest me much personally, but they seem to get decent reviews from what i've seen.

Would be the 3rd and 4th recalls.

I already had the clutch-related and fuel tank ones done......

$10K gets me a Yammie three-pot that will leave that HD so far behind it's hilarious.

HD = meh.

It's a sporty HD. Which isn't the same as a sporty motorcycle.

So by that logic HD /= motorcycle?

I concur.

It's a subset of motorcycles...and largely "performance" isn't high on their list. More style than substance usually

I've tested a few of their bikes and geez, not anything I'd ever own.  The pricing was ridiculous, the performance was horrible, and for all the hype, I came away soundly disappointed.  The 883 Sportster was easily one of the worst bikes I've ever ridden, and the Electra Glide felt like some cruel joke after riding a GW.

I RUINED a set of rotors on a Buell test ride. They were warped and all blue and purple.

But they told me to ride it like my sportbike, so I did.

I usually describe HD bikes as "agricultural machinery",  feels like you're riding a tractor.

i'm not a fan of the 883 either...the 1200s are quite a bit better...and a GW??...that's not even fair...everything is garbage compared to that.

Thinking about finding and restoring a 91 Honda CR250. I had one of these and rode the pi$$ out of it and it never let me down. I had converted it into an off road hare scramble bike but always struggled with the harsh inverted forks. I am thinking that with advancements in valving and a fatter wallet I could finally make it the ride I always craved. Quite astounding specs.  50s HP and only 214 lbs!
