KTM 790 Advenutre R anyone? It's a dual sport with Duke lights.

Managed one last ride on the CRF250L before Winter kicks in.  Although I was surprised by snow this morning, so that nearly put me off!  My main thought was, can I get the bike onto the trailer without falling over...

I drove out to Ganaraska Forest, which is 11,000 acres of bloody amazing trails.  Everything from wide fire roads, to fast dual track, to tight and technical single track through the forest.  I have some trails near my house but this place is really worth the drive!  The CRF does really well here, just the right amount of power, especially for my skill level.

Two things worth mentioning.  I installed some tie down strap rings to both the bike forks and the trailer, best few quid I've ever spent!  They are rated to 2,000lbs so are pretty strong, and now my tie downs don't bounce loose.  Also got a Kriega tail pack, which comes in very handy for wallet, phone, keys etc.  I also managed to fit a rain jacket in there.  Now I don't have to wear a backpack, which is good.

:)

We'll have to try and arrange a Ganny ride next year, sounds like fun.

I noticed you aren't using a fork support brace when trailering.  They really firm things up and the straps stay tight, plus it saves your forks.
I made mine out of a 2x4

Yeah, and they can also keep you from losing your bike off the trailer. Even if the straps are fairly tight, any bump that compresses the suspension will put slack in the cables and the hooks can come loose. With the fork brace, straps always stay tight.

Anyway TB, good job on getting out for a last ride! I did the same today. Had a great ride until the very end when I tipped it over on a patch of ice. Got my finger caught between the clutch lever & bark buster, and sprained it pretty good. Still hurts like hell. Guess my season is over for real now.  :(

Bike looks nice although I think at that point I would go for the Husky 701. A back to back comparison on good tires would be fun.

This trend towards downsizing (weight reduction) is a good one. I think everyone who regularly goes off pavement soon realizes their is little adventure in the adventure bikes. If you truly want to ride like what is in the pic you need to keep going down and look at the KTM500 / Husky FE501 though.

The husky 701 can't eat up the miles like a KTM adventure can though.

Oh for sure but I laugh because promotional pics never show a rider "eating miles" on the road but rather power slides in the dirt...When riders are buying these things I think they have images of the latter rather than the former running through their heads. I ran into many many many adventure riders struggling in the backwoods of BC this past summer. Wrestling heavy beasts, loaded like Himalayan yaks with dual sport rubber. There wasn't a lot of adventure going on.  I was packing a toothbrush, extra capacity tank and a credit card lol.

Interesting. All the adventure riders I know would never think about backwoods, strictly dirt bikes and a few atv's where I ride. I know about 12 adventure riders here that run railway trails, back roads and the odd time some sand in the Grey, Huron and Bruce area's on Ontario. I can't fathom backwoods especially with major elevations you have.

I was considering the Kriega too but ended up with the Enduristan. You can read my review here:  https://www.autos.ca/forum/index.php?topic=98990.msg1384032#msg1384032

Can't go wrong with either. Both high quality, high function packs.

This:

It is small though, so make sure it's the right size for what you want.
