How in the hell did you get gas at Costco?  With Costco being 20 cents a liter under the other stations the last few days, the lines have been horrendous!!

Filling up at 6am FTW! Although last week I filled up at 8:30pm and the lineup was long.

It's usually on the delivery checklist.

And I agree...it's a bad look giving you a new bike with the low fuel light on.

They gave me two bars.  :rofl2: I wasn't bothered by it but my Instagram followers might think twice about buying there. Social media is powerful.

would have been nice, but for $9, who cares...if you got the price you wanted and the bike is great, what's $9??...depending on the shop, they might not have fuel on site, so it would have meant driving the vehicle to the gas station to put $9 of gas in it...likely not worth it (would have cost them more in man hours)...personally, if i was happy about everything else, i'd gladly fill it up myself...that way, i can get the Premium fuel for it, not the cheapest :censor: they can find.

You make a good point, but a lot of 300s only need regular 87 octane gas anyway. And yes I can imagine most shops don't keep much fuel on site other than what's required to prime the fuel system plus get a customer on their way. There are fire hazards associated with keep too many jerry cans on site the fire marshals wouldn't like.

My Duke was tanked up. I can't remember if the others were.

It's a nice perk, but it wouldn't bother me if they didn't, as long as I had enough in the tank to make it to a gas station.

My thoughts in this case. I got a fantastic deal too so I wasn't going to fret over the full tank of gas. I did specifically ask for a full tank of gas when I got my used CBR 125R though.

@DKaz So you picked up a R3? Put it in the Show 'n Shine !

I think my dealer in the US delivered my R3 with half a tank of petrol, but I didn't mind. Granted now I live in Europe, 10-11 litres of petrol costs almost as much as dinner.  :-X

I haven’t had time to take any nice photos of it yet, just mostly commuting. I’ve put 425 km on it so far. I love it so far, feels good in the city and on the highway.

Lol at least you don’t need petrol every single day like you do dinner.

Parking spot at work

Look Ma, I’m an Albertan now.

I am planning on ordering the yellow wheels the 2018 models have to mount the summer/track tires on, I’m getting Heidenau K66 winter tires mounted on the stock rims. I would also like some of the white pieces on the rear end too, looks nicer IMO.

Meh..buy some used stock wheels from a wreck and have them powder coated.

I found the wheels brand new for $700 Canadian for both front and rear. Used they're still going for $250 each, and powder coating adds some weight to the wheels.

In that case, I'd suggest stripping the wheels down to bare metal...the yellow paint adds some weight.

I'd also use kangaroo leather over cow for your suit, since it's much lighter. More so than powder coated wheels.

Also...judging from your photo you could stand to lose a pound or two...for ultimate track day performance. :)

Congrats ! Now you just need to ride around and find an idyllic countryside backdrop for your press release photos like I did with my Peugeot 308 outside of Metz  :P (just kidding)

First thing I did was the usual rear fender delete, and then tires (in prep for my trackday just 3 months after purchase....). I dunno, for me wheels are wheels but do as you will.

I rode a bit this evening near my home, first time in at least a couple weeks. Reminder of why I don't like too much street riding........ :( . In stark contrast, I put nearly 19k on my R3 my first year of ownership.

It's comments like that which make me happy I'm 64kg. Even the rear shock doesn't feel hugely deficient. Well, after the racing cartridge kit for the fork, ok, the rear suspension could use an upgrade. But not a huge issue for a relatively lightweight like me  ;D

I should shut up about upgrades before DKaz starts getting ideas.  :-X

You gotta go there when you start worrying about the weight of paint for your first track day.    :rofl2:

My head is big. i was down at 170 lb/77 kg back in 2007 after losing weight to run a 10 km run and it really brought out how massuve my head is. My weight is proportional to my head size. Haha.I'm 226 lb/102 kg currently, have been hanging around that mark for most of the last 10 years.. I did get down to 200 lb/91 kg a couple of years back but went way off track.

Congrats ! Now you just need to ride around and find an idyllic countryside backdrop for your press release photos like I did with my Peugeot 308 outside of Metz  [emoji14] (just kidding)

I have some ideas but it'll have to wait until next week as there's snow in the forecast this week.

Don't worry, I have no desire to upgrade anything, heck I like my rear tail. [emoji1]

You forgot the pre-ride dump... :rofl2: :rofl2:

I thought you were talknig about crashing it on the way home from the dealer, but then realized which dump you're talking about. Yes I do that.  [emoji1]

Speaking of the ride home, a massive dump of rain passed through just before I took delivery of my bike. It had mostly died down when I decided to leave the dealer.

Dealer: Take it easy out on those wet roads
Me: Ok
Me, 2 minutes later outside the dealer: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

You gotta go there when you start worrying about the weight of paint for your first track day.    :rofl2:

My head is big.

OMG...so funny you mention that.

Whenever one of my racing buddies would ask about "I need ideas on saving weight on my bike" I'd always cheerfully suggest "Chop your head off...that's at least 10 pounds right there!"    :rofl2:

Mine's probably closer to 15 lb...

Anyway, I'm pretty sure my weight is the reason why nothing I've owned has been good on fuel, although my engine is getting broken in.

Heavy head is fine, just remember to keep your head, shoulders/elbow down as low as possible when cornering* to lower the centre of gravity and help turn-in the bike !

*Not recommended on public roads

Keen to see how this motorcycle-snow-tire thing goes this winter...

Thanks ktm525! No worries, I’m embracing it, even though it’s still summer. Should be better than without snow tires.
