special financing rate until end of May.

They are just blowing out the 2017s...but hurry! They won't last forever!
what is the financing deal (%/term)?

0.99% up to 60 months for all 2016 to 2018 models, on top of incentives for 2016 and 2017 models.

wow...that means the 390 Duke is about $100/month for 60 months all in...that's pretty cheap.

Yes that is. Why are there so many 2017 Dukes left over? The Husky I bought they were offering 5% financing (2018) and it is a 1-2 week wait as these are the last 2018s they have. Outside of the odd one most 2017 were long gone months ago.

Dealers overestimated the demand for these things?

that's my guess...they likely figured, "At $6500, we'll sell tons of these", which may work in some markets, but NA seems so focused on buying by the pound, so it was likely overlooked...it's the same reason why we have so few nice scooters here, yet markets in Europe have each brand's full line up...so rather than sit on the inventory, throw some cash on the seat and offer low rate financing and get rid of all of them in months...not exactly a profitable option, but carrying inventory is expensive too, and if there are tons of 390 Dukes on the street all of a sudden, it could work as a bit of marketing for them...i think their one challenge may be availability though...i have no idea why we don't have a KTM dealer in London (Hully Gully would be a good fit, IMO).

In several places, the 2017s arrived late...too late. So they are left over.

Even now, once again, the 2018 have yet to arrive here.

That's true too. Seems to be KTM's own doing. It was last May I was supposed to test ride a 2017 390 Duke but they gave me a 2016 to test ride. They probably can't keep up with initial demand, these things are selling like hotcakes in India among other places, then they overproduce and you guys sweep up the savings.

Just got back from my 40km break in ride.

Thoughts? Suspension is fantastic. Road feel is superb while not being jarring on bigger bumps. I've felt worse suspension on bikes costing many thousands more. I guess when you own a high end suspension company it pays off in big dividends. At this point, I'm not going to set the sag..which is rare for me. I usually do it ASAP.

This thing is sporty feeling...but not in the torture rack sportbike feeling. You sit on the bike and there's absolutely nothing to distract from the view it front..like there's nothing...just you and the task at hand.

The TFT display is incredible. All the info there as the thumb controls to scroll through the menu is easy. The programmable shift lights are very cool. During the break in period, the shift light and the tach itself light up red at 7000rpm. A slick touch. Cell phone paired easily, though I don't think I'll be using it. But I was able to play music and answer calls. The screen goes green with the caller ID showing up clearly. Answer or ignore the call with a touch on the handlebar button. It's very, very good. If this isn't the best display on the market, it's right there at the top. Unbelievable on a bike of this price.

This bike wants to PLAY! It's like a puppy dog with a ball in its mouth. Play with me! It's so light on its feet matched with superb suspension. Power is good..not thrilling..but super fun and allows you to cane it without getting into trouble while still inducing smiles. I'm limited to 7500rpm for now, so at this point I can't provide much more. For me? I think I might alter the gearing by 2 teeth so I have more snap out of corners. But that's just how I like to ride. It needs an exhaust and an open air box lid..and I think those 2 sounds will add tons to the experience.

With Sir O in the back of my mind, I was cautious in the bends gradually working my way up. I ride motard style (leg out and down), so I had an extra measure of safety if I got caught out, but no problems. I puckered the first time I committed to a fast 90 degree corner..but all was well. I did not back it in yet. I'm not there on this new bike yet.

I have girl hands, so I need to keep my hand all the way inboard for clutch use. Because of that, it's puts my hand out of position to work the turn signals easily. I think I'll explore a clutch lever with more adjustability.

Despite the hard riding (I use the Motoman break in method) the bike still delivered 4l/100km. It will easily do 3s.

Temp bar never got above 4 bars and I didn't hear the fan..something some peeps complained about. I insisted on the newest ECU map (V41) as the bike comes with V39. Not sure if this had anything to do with it.

Overall very very pleased so far. This bike is worth much more than its price and does feel premium.

Only 960kms to go before I can really let it rip!

Did a half-day trip to Heidelberg , tried out a different route on the way there (meh not great, but you don't know until you ride it). Altogether 210km, and I finally remembered to turn on the Liberty Rider application on the way home- a familiar route but had to stop a couple times.

The R3 doesn't like urban traffic (it's mean for backroads and track use, not sitting at lights) but it is nice to not have to pay for parking and just park the bike nearly anywhere. Speed cameras suck though.

Went for a ~450km yesterday in the Crowsnest Pass and Waterton with a friend of mine. He laid out a great route. Absolutely perfect biking weather.

I'll post some more photos and the route later. I've now put just about 1,000kms on the bike in a couple weeks. The previous owner did 1,6xx in two years.  :rofl2:

The impression I got from my unfortunately brief ride, the little Duke is a playful thing. I was well pleased with it until it spat me off. And now I am sad. And somewhat broken.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

As soon as I get enough range of motion back into my right shoulder. It's still pretty restricted.

I'll likely play in the dirt with it for a while to get some confidence in it back.

You might hit the deck again with those street tires in the dirt.

The lack of traction keeps the speeds way down.

I was on dirt long before I was ever riding on pavement.

Maybe I'm a bit sensitive. It's really frustrating not knowing why I went down.

I've lost the rear a number of times, I've hydroplaned, I've lost traction on both wheels at a pretty fair clip, and never put a bike down.
