That's a very slow bike, but the 16hp does go farther than the number suggests because the bike is very light.

I'm really digging the retro bike movement.

I'd be more down with it if the engines weren't so retro powered.....retro style with modern powerplant for me.

Honda is on the right track IMO....although it's more....neo-retro?

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

The ENTIRE new paddock along with ALL the bikes for the new MotoE racing series burned up at Jerez...all bikes lost.  Fire was limited to the MotoE paddock..so I'm guessing one of the bikes caused it??

For me a motorcycle should have that "standard" look. The hybrid alien looking ones are of not a lot of interest to me. Performance is not the top priority (obviously with my choice of a 16hp TU250X). I know it is shallow and silly but I am ok with it.

I thought your TU250X would have more than 16 HP being fuel injected.

It does! I was 0.1hp off.  :rofl2:

Power   16.1 bhp (12.0 kW) @ 7200 rpm
Torque   12.54 lb⋅ft (17.00 N⋅m) @ 4500 rpm

It is an older, understressed design they added fuel injection to.

Understressed, that's what I thought my 7.5 HP Vino 125 was until I blew the engine up.

That's a very slow bike, but the 16hp does go farther than the number suggests because the bike is very light.

16 HP is good to about 130 indicated km/h. My favourite bike to learn on was a Yamaha XT225 making roughly that much. Found out it was barely adequate on the highway... so I went out and bought an 11.5 HP CBR 125R which surprisingly was also able to do 130 indicated sometimes.  :rofl2: Anyway yea my CB300F was a jump up to 27 HP and it'd top out at 160 indicated. I haven't tested the top speed of my 37 HP R3 yet.

Wow, that's a bit less power than my DR200SE, which weighs about 250lbs IIRC

^^I like it....but have no idea why you'd spend that kind of $$ over a Duke 790 (or Triumph Street Triple)...other than nostalgia.  If that's the case, you aren't too far removed from Harley dudes...

I can never understand why you can never understand that people like different things from you.

Sure they can.  And I can understand it.

But given the tremendous amount of bikes...that offer better value, tech, etc......for less money.

Like I said...it's like buying a Harley...because you're buying for nostalgia.  Rather...over paying for nostalgia.

Shrugs....to each their own.  Nothing to get butt hurt about, Bob.

No one is butt hurt.  It's just you say the same thing every time.  "Mod your car", "Why would you buy that over a KTM?", yada yada.  What if people want a bike that isn't ugly, or doesn't look like a toy, or has a dealer nearby, or is reliable?

P.S. Disclaimer about Triumph's being reliable...  :rofl2:

You'll note I also said why over a Street Triple, too......from the same company.  Do you find the Street Triple to be ugly??  Or perhaps your bike (or the retro version of it).  Lotsa bike, stylish, tech, etc.

And I wouldn't exactly say Triumph has a large dealer network.... ;)  Might want to put in a disclaimer about that too.   ;D

I tend to roll my eyes when people buy Harley's...and this is the Euro version of a Harley IMO.  Not much substance...some style...lotsa dollars.

Again...whatevs.

I still love the old Speed Triple from 1994.  Modern, but not.  Would put up with Triumph lack of reliability for this.

I think Bob has one of those IIRC....which reminds...that another thing you get from the Triple....bananas sounds!  Sounds amazing....

FWIW, they're using Triumph engines for Moto2 next year....listen to these things on full boil!

I think the Speed Twin is a great looking bike, it's getting great reviews too.  And yes, compared to the FZ-09 and Street Triple, it's much better looking.

^^It's certainly not ugly.

But it's not so beautiful as to command the price premium IMO.  YMMV.

Might as well buy the Street Twin and save some cheddar if one is in love with the looks perhaps?  But again...pricey for that too IMO.

Nostalgia costs moolah I guess.

**EDIT**  For curiosity sake, I checked how many dealers.  4 in Ontario....and only 17 for the entire country.
