The camera improvements are what drive many upgraders. The cameras on my wife's new 11 Pro are noticeably better than the ones on my XS.

If a lot of your friends have iPhones then the iOS messaging app is a pretty killer feature IMO.
How is iOS messager app better than WhatsApp or even FB messager app ?  ???
It isn't....
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Well I'm sure Steve Jobs said it was the best ever, plus he put an "i" at the beginning of messenger, so that also makes it better apparently.

Selena Gomez’ music videos were shot on iPhone 11 Pro.

Yup.  Also, a colleague of mine at the office just got a new 11 and I was showing her pics I took at Ripley's Aquarium last week on my Galaxy s10 Plus and she was like "Damn, my camera sucks" - which surprised me - but kinda not.  The reality versus hype disconnect with i-stuff is often quite pronounced.

Well for one thing, all your messages are in one place that way (text messages + iMessages). Also convenient that I can send/receive messages and notifications on my computer, which I can't do with Facebook Messenger without going to the Facebook web site (there used to be a bit of a hack but it didn't work for group convos)..

The 11 Pro cameras are much better than the regular 11's.

When all your friends/family are iPhone people and won't bother migrating to WhatsApp.... As is the case with my in-laws.

Using multiple messaging apps is annoying.

In a world where even the most basic, cheapest plan likely has unlimited texting, who cares anymore?

Because basic SMS is not as full featured as the messaging apps are.

Is that really a thing? Like if all your messages aren't in the same place you'll forget what you were talking about?

I suppose you need to have all your phone conversations transcribed so you you'll be able to stay current? LOL [emoji38]

Methinks you are very easily annoyed.  ;D  It troubles me not even a little.

Really?

What features does one really need?

Even the stock messaging on my phone allows messages, video, pictures, files, emojis, etc.

Do you really need more...just for texting?

Like I said above, being able to send and receive messages on my computer is an awesome feature. And SMS doesn't always seem to work well with group. messages.

I must be getting old.  I used to feel strongly about this stuff, but now it's just a great big 'Meh'.

Heck, I'll even send some personal emails out if I want to communicate with some people.  Isn't that archaic?

Hmmm...never an issue with group messaging on Android.

What happens?

And Android messaging service does all of that (on PC too)...and even works on iOS. Any platform.

Yes but Google messaging service isn't just SMS, is it? It's basically the equivalent of iOS's Messages app.

As for group messages, it seems like sometimes the messages just go out individually to members of the group. Happened to me yesterday actually. A friend sent an invite to a handful of people but the messages were all sent out as separate SMS.

So it sounds like Apple's SMS messaging is weak sauce then?

I know on my phone, you can set up "groups" for messages and save that as a single contact. And works every time.
