Just been watching the live blog from the Apple presentation.   All our phones are out of date now.

My Apple watch  which is only 3 months old is out of date as well.

Exactly as expected.  I suppose I could have waited a few weeks to change but the battery life was bugging me.  As it is, Telus gave me another $200 off the phone price, more than making up for any discount I would have got from other places had I waited until after today's announcement.

It should be noted that Apple is taking "pre-orders" right now and not actual orders.  Have they given an actual release date?

Okay, so the iPhone 11 is almost exactly what I expected. Only surprise is that the second lens is an ultra-wide angle, not telephoto. So I am officially not interested, and doubly so for a thousand bucks.  :P

And it looks like the XR hasn't been discontinued, so now should just be a matter of waiting for a super deal!

Apple website says Sept. 20.

My daughter just picked up an XR to replace her 8 plus. She loves it.

I just replaced my 6 (my son has it now) with the XR. Solid unit and should last many years (like my 6). Plus a "no cost" upgrade.
I love it when a plan comes together.

I like my XR as well.

The Iphone 11 plus  has 3 cameras plus the front facing one.  Wide, ultrawide and telephoto.  They say you can do different videos on one of the rear cameras and the front facing one and with tools on the phone, merge and edit the videos... that is lot of cpu power  and memory.

Switched from my $48/mo 8GB plan (unlimited minutes) with Koodo to Fizz.

Currently $40/mo for 6 GB and Canada & US Roaming. It also includes unlimited calling to Canada & USA. I think the price is supposed to go up to $55 after the "stabilization period" ends. However, fizz also lets you roll two months of data over, which means I should have more usable data with 6 gb than I did with the strict 8/month allotment.

Do cell phones display if they are connected to LTE or LTE Extended Range or just display LTE when connected to either?

I have IOS 13.1 on my phone.  I am sure it does all kinds of new things but I haven't noticed.
Same with IPADOS on my Ipad.  Looks different but everything still works.

LTE ER(?) 700MHz is suppose to work in elevators. Half the time I am in an elevator and on the phone is cuts out so, just wondering how widespread the LTE ER is. I am with Rogers but don't all carriers have LTE ER in the GTA?

My contract is up with Sasktel. They'll continue it as is if I don't contact them.

I'd really rather stay with them. Prices are reasonable, service is great.

I know people in Ontario using Sasktel as it's cheaper than the "local" companies

Tried to use my cellphone yesterday to record lap times using an app called TrackAddict but couldn't get proper GPS signal for it to work, mostly it wouldn't lock in and when it did it said it was a poor signal.   I've been noticing the occasional time I go to use GPS lately it's been slow or inaccurate.  I'm thinking something is busted in it,  guessing the actual satellite GPS part.

Guess I'll need a new phone just to get this working properly again. :(

My contract with BellMTS expires on November 7th, so I visited a local store to see if I could get a cheaper rate if I continue to use my current phone.
The employees response? "Unless you go talk and text only, we can't help you."    ::)

Current plan: 200 minutes, 2.5G of data, unlimited text for $65/mo.

In the past six months, the most minutes I've used is 182, most data used is 2.15G.

Koodoo has a $55 plan that should work: 4 GB of data, Unlimited Canada-wide anytime minutes, Unlimited messaging.

Thankfully, I have a few days to shop around.

Last summer I moved from Fido to Lucky Mobile. The Plan I picked is:  $40/mo + (QC taxes 14.975% = $45.99 tax in/mo)

"Unlimited Canada-Wide Calling Plan - 4.5GB + Get 500 MB of bonus data every month with Automatic Top-Up" = > Total: 5GB  but note it is 3G speed data
