I'm starting to look now for replacement phones (3) for our family and a family shared data plan. The two year deal is up now that got us 3 iphone 7's with a shared 10G data plan for ~$200. This is with Rogers who we've been with for 10 years now.
I see FS has a BELL deal now for iphone XR's and $330 cash card on certain plans.

Does your wife work for the government, isn't there usually a group deal for them ?
I'll ask her - I don't think so. She's with the Federal Dept. of Justice, not Ontario Justice. Roger might know.
They use Samsung S9's or something. She never uses it.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

What kind of phones were included in that plan dirty Jeff?

Freedom hsa a free iPhone XR 64GB, Samsung Galaxy S10e, or LG G8 ThinQ on a minimum $75/mo plan which puts you in the 15 GB full speed data (reduced speed after that), or there's the Samsung Galaxy A10 or LG Q Stylo+ on a minimum $50/mo plan that gets you 10GB. There are a few in between options too.

My only problem with Freedom is only having 2GB of roaming data (outside Freedom zones). I use a lot of data...

I think there are telus and rogers discount. For Rogers I think it's 30% off the share everything rate.

there's no such thing as a "free phone" really...our plan was only $35/month and came with unlimited everything (data speed MAY be throttled over 6 GB, but we never went close to that)...we also got cheap global rates as we used our phones a bit when we were in the UK a few years ago...it was only something like 2c/minute to call to the UK from here, and when we were there, it was only something like 20c/minute to call back home...i was actually surprised at how cheap it was.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

So much for the people who say that Canada's high cell phones rates is because Canada is a big country 🙄
In Oz , you can 2 gigs of data , unlimited calling for $9 a month
Same plan in Canada is $30

I’ll be replacing my iPhone 6s this fall: screen is cracked and battery life is abysmal, even after I changed it last year. But it’s four years old, so it’s about time anyway.

Figured I’d wait to see what Apple comes out with next month, but just saw now that Koodo is selling a current XR for $0 up front and $20/mo for 24 months. So $480 total for a phone that was over a grand 11 months ago.

Am kind of tempted to just jump on it. From what I’ve read, the XR’s replacement won’t be much of an upgrade: new chip, second lens, and maybe better facial recognition. That’s all great, but hardly $600-extra great.

The XR upgrade is the XS which has been out a year already. In September apple will be bringing out 3 new phones so the XR and XS should be dropping in price then.
I'm also in the market and will wait a little longer.

PS. Surprised the replacement battery did not hold up well for your 6S.
PPS. The battery on my current 7 is also pretty weak after 24 months use. I set it on low battery for the day and am lucky if it makes it till dinner. It's not been changed though.

Koodo says it’s a flash sale that ends Sept. 2. They also have a 15-day return policy, so I could buy it on the second and keep it in the box until the new phones are announced (supposedly on the 10th.) I could return it if I really wanted a new model, or even if the XR drops further in price (but hard to imagine it getting even cheaper than $480? ??? )

Yeah, upgrade from XR is XS. I just meant that the “new XR” (XIR? 11R?) isn’t supposed to be much of an upgrade over the current one. Everything I’ve read suggests this will be a year of modest improvements to the whole lineup. Major changes aren’t expected until 2020.

Here a bit of info about IPhone and Google new phones
We are going on a month trip , is it worth to have a new phone with a new camera , or wait until Black Friday sales in November  ???

Going on a trip is always a good excuse to get a new phone/camera. My wife got her XS Max last year just before we went to Malta. Just sayin'...  ;D

Having said that, I'm not going anywhere this fall so think I'll wait. iPhone 11 specs seem all but confirmed now. I wouldn't mind having the second lens, but it's not that big a deal to me. Pretty sure I'll end up with the XR after all, but hopefully for even cheaper than the current deal. I can probably wait it out until Black Friday and see what happens. Maybe if there is some kind of deal on the 11 I'll be tempted to splurge.  :P

Argh. Spent 4 hours trying to get Bell to take my money and continue on a corporate plan for my wife's phone. Nobody knew what to do and I must have had 6 different answers.

Gonna just go with Koodo, which I should have done in the first place.

Did you consider Videotron? Might be cheaper depending on how much data you're after.
There's also fizz but they have some "stabilization" issues.

Both offer great US roaming plans too.

I just checked out Videotron. Good deals for sure but my wife is fine with 4GB and it's $65/month with an iPhone XR.

I switched my phone & the boys to Videotron this past summer... and then Bella's son is on there as well... we're $325/month all in for the 4 of us! Phones & plans are - 1 S10e @ 10GB, 1 iPhone XR @ 10GB and 2 iPhone 8's at 9GB.

That's solid. If she needed more than 4GB I'd go with them.

Just got an iPhone XS 64 GB.  I’m staying with Telus to keep my life simple.

I gave my 4 year old iPhone 6 to my son.  I left it up to him to decide whether he wants to use it or not.  It is an improvement over his 4S but the battery is not that great anymore.

What do you do to use so much data ?
This month I am at 0.45 of a gig
I pay $23 a month , unlimited Canada, and 1.5 gig, if I go over , they slow it down but no extra charge

Streaming music is where I use most of my data.
