Well after resding the last couple pages ill go for a 35$ battery replacement.  Looking at the battery percentage on my i phone is like looking at seconds on a clock but backwards.  Can barely last a morning

Well i got the battery replaced in the phone and got the runsy battery case. Before that i was lucky if i got 3 hrs maybe 4 hrs of life time. Thats if i didn’t use it and only check for phone calls or email. If i surfed the internet or actually did couple phone call it would last maybe 2 hrs tops.  Now with the runsy battery (and the new phone one i guess) i charge everything 100% and let it go until the end.   It lasted 55hrs!! And that was sending emails, watched a full movie, surf internet and more.

Having a glass of wine and a cigar out on the front patio.  Still amazes me how great our modern cell phone cameras are these days.  This was taken with my Pixel 2 XL, unmodified.

My new phone!  Thrilled to be back to a physical keyboard, as I never got used to touch screen typing.  It would always frustrate the hell out of me.

BlackBerry Key2, powered by Android.  :)  The transition was fairly simple, as I went from Android to Android.

Work gave me a Blackberry KeyOne.  It's a huge phone with a disappointing screen, but if your phone is a work device and not a toy, it's great!  I don't love the keyboard, preferring the one on the Key2 much better.  This one has a weird feeling to it.

I am still rocking a Samsung Galaxy S5 as my personal phone.  I ordered an iPhone 8 (free with work perks, $65/month for 5GB of data and unlimited Canadawide calling).  I could have had the Samsung S9 instead, but I prefer the smaller footprint and forward-facing fingerprint scanner of the iPhone.  Shame, because if the S10 were out, it wouldn't be a question with the in-screen fingerprint reader.

Oh well...

I dunno...I prefer the scanner on the back. Can scan the finger in one motion as you pull it out of your pocket.

In addition, the S9 has has iris and face scan...you only need to look at the phone.

Sounds like a big nothing burger to me.

Also for a work phone, IQ prefers the Note over any Blackberry she's ever had.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Maybe you should wait until September

Yes, and be sure to camp out 2 days in advance like one of those morons!

I'll get a new one in two years

Ditto.

I have no desire to be on the bleeding edge or pay a premium for doing so.  Let the fanbois and other early adopters be the guinea pigs on these things.

The premium for the newest phones is relatively small though. To me it's fairly pointless not to get the newest model available.

All things considered the 8 is pretty new.
Yeah, the 6S was a decent phone save for  battery issues like I had with mine. The move to 7's for the family has been better but I'm not sure how much of leap it would be to move to the 8.

Oh for sure, it's the newest generation iPhone at this point (at least for a couple more weeks).

I hate screen protectors, and I haven't broken a phone screen in my life.  Well, I guess there is a first time for everything.

I've been with Bell for my cell phone service going back to my very first cell phone, a Motorola Star Tac.  So obviously a loyal and long time customer.  I bit the bullet late last week and activated my daughter's S8+ that I passed down to her and ended up going with Virgin for her phone as they had they seemed to have the best basic plan for phone/text/data.  While I was there I asked about a plan for myself.  My plan with Bell was unlimited calling and texting with 2GB a month and it cost me $110.  Long story short, I signed up with Virgin for unlimited calling/texting with 6GB of data for $55.  Half freakin' price I was paying with Bell.  Crazy.   ::)

Yeah, my wife and I have been with Telus since 2003 or 2004. Our last contract expired a year or so ago, and we've just been winging it since. Got a notice a while ago that our rates will be going up $20/month. Seriously? Both our phones are long paid off, and now we're paying more? Total was $195/mo for two lines plus an iPad - unlimited calling and 7GB data total. Most months we don't go over on the data, but at least 3-4 times a year we'll end up paying for 10-11GB, which gets crazy.

So I called them up to see what they would do, and the answer was basically nothing. I told them we'll switch to Koodo and they didn't even care (Telus owns Koodo, so I guess it's not surprising.) Regardless, we'll now be paying $155/mo for 15GB instead.
