Google sucks at e-commerce it seems.

My phone was ordered on Dec 30, promised on Jan 6-7 but it hasn't arrived yet and Google did not send me any notification about the delay or the new ETA. Worst online purchase in recent times.....
We got some google mini though the store and had no problems at all , weird

got a new phone last night...signed up with Freedom and was going to get a Samsung Galaxy S10, but they only had one left...my wife wanted that phone, and it wasn't my first choice, but was such a good deal, i figured i'd just get it too...since they only had one left, i got their last Galaxy S10+...it was a bit more, but the larger screen is likely a bonus for me anyway...seems like a decent enough phone, but haven't really used it yet.
Which plan did you sign up on ?

We just moved Bella's phone off of Rogers onto my Videotron account where I have my cell, plus all 3 boys as well. She brought her Galaxy S8 over and will be buying it out from Rogers (owes something like $175 on it still), since she brought over here own device, her plan is only $48 + taxes per month for unlimited talk & text Canada wide and then 6GB of data per month, plus an extra 100GB per year (works out to 14GB/month). It's a month to month contract so she can cancel anytime and then if she stays on for 12 months she gets the 12th month for free. She's going to be saving close to $50/month vs Rogers, so with the savings she will have covered her buyout in about 3.5 months.

The question is how much data do you need ?
On freedom we have 1.5 gigs of data per month ,  no overage fees, unlimited cellphone across Canada and world wide texting for $24 a month

I have 10GB per month and sometimes I get close to using the whole amount, other months I use half... the boys all use close to their max as well. She did look at Freedom Mobile as well, but then decided to go onto my Videotron account.

Which plan did you sign up on ?
i got the Big Gig $50 plan, which is $79 with the S10+ phone (it's only $60 with the S10, which is what i was going to go with, but they had none left)...you get 5 GB Freedom data, plus a 4 GB bonus (so 9 GB total) per month at full speed, 3G speeds if you go over (no overage fees), and unlimited calling, messaging and all calling features...if i use it outside of Freedom's coverage area (which i would rarely do), i get 500 MB roaming (Bell/Rogers/Telus) data but still get unlimited calls and messaging in Canada...i wanted the $60 deal, but it still ends up cheaper than Rogers, who is switching their plans Jan. 28th (hardware will only be offered on 24 month financing and there will be only one plan, which will be $75/month).
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

All of which are absolutely useless with their crap coverage. Even within their coverage area I have read people saying they have trouble getting signals in buildings.

After all the horror stories I have heard, never. You get what you pay for. Most of the experiences are people who got attracted to it because of the price, discovered there is practically no signal anywhere, then switched back to whatever they were using. That includes a close friend of mine.

Roger's coverage(I was on Fido) is already not nearly as good as Bellus. That's why I switched to Koodo.

If you want cheap data and don't mind the slower speed(as in 3G speed), why not Public Mobile? It rides off of Telus network so there shouldn't be much issue with coverage.

Who are most people ?  ???
I have had very little problem with Freedom , switch over in August
When you are not on Freedom service , you are on Bell/Telus

i had Freedom/Wind a couple of years ago...i live right on the edge of where their coverage area was, and sometimes it was a bit spotty...however, their area has expanded so the edge is now a good 10-15kms outside the city now, so there are no issues...also, i used my phone in the office today and didn't have to go stand by the window...most phones don't work well in our building so that was a pleasant surprise that i didn't have to run to the entrance to avoid dropping a call...our building's exterior walls are 18" steel reinforced concrete...it's a borderline bomb shelter.

Finally got my Pixel 3a from Google Store.

Hate the keyboard but will get used to it..... Had to order few new cables/ chargers for the cars to replace the old ones.

Otherwise I find it reasonable for a $400 phone.

You can swap it out for a different keyboard app.

I always use Swype.

I had plans on upgrading my Pixel 3XL to a Pixel 4, but decided against it.  The Pixel 4 doesn't include a fingerprint scanner this time around, and I use that feature on my 3 XL quite a bit.  I'm suprised Google got rid of it.  :(

I have an early-2018 vintage iPhone SE - the last of the old-school iPhones.  Hope it lasts a couple more years.

From my brief research on budget phones, Motorola is a good/top choice... Some nostalgia here..... Motorola, Nokia used to be the heavy hitters when I used to be into this stuff back 20-25 years ago.

I only had Nokia phones for many years ever since I moved to Canada and then switched to Blackberry for another couple of years; I used to get a new phone every 2 years religiously ..... Now, I can't care less ... whatever they sell for a decent price and fits my basic needs. One thing that annoys me and it marks the moment I have to get another phone is when the battery no longer lasts a full day or.... when something really new comes along like it was the AA/CarPlay few years back for example.

Finally got around to switching to my new Motorola, but no, I need a new SIM card, this one takes a nano sized one.  :P

Nothing is ever easy.
