this vehicle actually shows up on jeep.ca as its own trim level so you can simply select it from the build options.

yeah, it was allocation only in it's first year in 14... was a strange one. in the states you could order it, but up here it was however they were done... and the wizards checking off boxes must not have known what they were doing. they were all soft top only. i still kind of miss that aspect of my first one actually... more rugged looking. then for 15 and onward, you could order what you wanted. i had a 14, a 15 and now a 16... we'll see if i am stupid enough to get a 17 as well... i might because i'm not in love with my colour...

anyway, a couple things... option list... the one you were driving has the added options of hard top(or likely dual top), a/c, 6.5" uconnect, tow package, auto, alpine system, side steps(willys standard option is rock rails/sliders), and i think i see side airbag tags on the seats... so that would make msrp at 47355 for that beast (if it was just the hard top). another odd thing... the colour? is that tank? that colour isn't available for 2017.

the only drawbacks of the willys package are that you can't pick and choose some options... like, you see that 6.5 inch screen? you want it to have nav? nope. not possible. you'd have to swap out the whole thing.... and those seats? you want heated? nope.

anyway... i love the willys... i think this time though, i'll skip the screen, save 775 and put an aftermarket carplay style one in there... i think i'll go with chief as my colour this time!
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

I like that it has decent tires. Just needs a clutch and I'd love one. ;D

I always wanted a Jeep. First one I sat in many decades back was a CJ-7.

If I were buying a new one though I'd be looking at the smaller version, 6 spd, hardtop, Rubicon. :)

Well to be fair, the same is true for the Sport. If you want the extra features you need to pony up for the Rubicon.

I know I've said it before but I can't get over how freaking expensive these things have become.

When did Jeeps become $50K vehicles?  Damn.  My whole life the Wrangler-style Jeep product was one of the most affordable off road vehicles.

heh. Yeah, they ain't cheap but few new vehicles are. Problem with older ones is they seldom come up for sale and when they do are usually junk. I do find the '85 CJ 7 in the Auto Trader tempting though at $7500 with a Ford 302 and 5 spd and looks like it may actually be done right.

Of course, buying a new one also means you don't have to worry about if the gas guage works or the speedo reads right because of the non-standard parts, etc..........

The base  price of a four door Wrangler has gone up by $8750 since 2012. And the 2017 is equipped almost identically to the 2012. Insane.

once demand went nuts a few years back (and supply could kind of keep up) the prices jumped significantly... even in 2014 you saw the base 2 doors starting at 19995. that same one, you won't find dealers advertising the same package under 27.

so while they always used to be "canada's cheapest convertible", i'm not so sure... are they still? not many drop tops around i guess.

my '14 was a 4dr with no options other than the willy's package. so soft top, no a/c, stick... but the willy's gave it power windows/locks/mirrors, bluetooth, sweet rims/tires, the off-road stuff and all that (package hasn't changed since then)... but in 14, there were some special dealership employee programs on the jeeps, there was a 5k rebate and the prices started lower... anyone want to guess what my price was on it?

Well, that's a factor too. People now demand all this extra crap to be in even the lowest models that people once didn't care about, especially if they were buying a Jeep.
