Not terribly clean it seems....

lol. It's probably the equivalent of all cars of a full NAscar season into  a 5 minute launch.

The Raptor engines in the Starship burn methane and oxygen, far less polluting than solid boosters or kerosene...but it still is an issue.

Methane has 80 times the warming power of carbon dioxide when it reaches the atmosphere and it alone is responsible for 30 percent of climate change temps.

Not when it's been burnt though, that's as pure methane.  It becomes CO2 and water vapour when burned

So C02 injected into the upper atmosphere?

Sounds wonderful for climate change!

Wonder how many tons this massive engine spews?

Not saying it's good, just that it's far from the worst type of fuel.  Hydrogen/Oxygen is better for emissions, but has other drawbacks.

I wonder how much methane was released in the nord-stream blow up  :-X

Looks like they need to work on the launch pad for a while.

Huh...something built under Musk that's shabby.

Who'd have guessed?

Real engineers told him three years ago that  there needed to be trenches for cooling and thrust diversion...but Elon overruled them because he's so smart.
Debris from the pad took out engines and screwed everything,

Elon Tweet on that matter

https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1649523985837686784 stamped 5:22PM 2023-04-21

"3 months ago, we started building a massive water-cooled, steel plate to go under the launch mount.

Wasn’t ready in time & we wrongly thought, based on static fire data, that Fondag would make it through 1 launch.

Looks like we can be ready to launch again in 1 to 2 months.
"

https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1649800747834392580 stamped 11:42AM 2023-04-22

"Still early in analysis, but the force of the engines when they throttled up may have shattered the concrete, rather than simply eroding it. The engines were only at half thrust for the static fire test."

Big meteor shower tonight!!

I went out around midnight and saw 2 or 3.  Sky isn't the darkest here at the edge of town, but not too bad.

Skies should cooperate tonight here in southern Manitoba, so I plan to head out.

I was up in Lion's Head (dark skies) for 3 nights and every night was cloudy.  :'(  Was really hoping to catch some of the showers.
